Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruna Nessif.
Bruna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Like many others, the pandemic kind of forced me to take a look at my life choices and see what was aligning and what wasn’t. Something that’s been a constant for me is synchronicity. When something is for me, it’s very clear, and the same vice versa. I’ve always been a spiritual person, but I kept it low-key out of fear of criticism and judgment. In all honesty, I also just didn’t understand what I was experiencing with my heightened abilities and assumed everyone is like me. The Universe kept placing signs and teachers on my path, and during the beginning of the pandemic, it became incredibly clear that I was being ushered into a new chapter and cycle of my life where my gifts were being asked to be seen and cultivated. It started with oracle card readings, which kind of happened “by accident,” and after realizing how accurate they were, I dove headfirst and took a chance. I had already begun learning Reiki years prior but used this nudge to further my training so that I could facilitate Reiki healing, and combined all of these strengths with my existing skills and certifications: writing, speaking and life coaching. Through a cosmic whirlwind of events, I eventually sculpted a company that offers a hybrid healing modality that lands at the intersection of mysticism and practicality, not realizing at the time that I was actually creating what I always needed. And so, Return to Self was born, and it’s been the gift that keeps on giving in every possible way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, the struggles were more internal than anything. The ethos, concept, branding, ideas and all of that came flooding out with ease, which is usually a sign for me that I’m on the right path. Even the clientele was booming as soon as I made my services known. The hard part was getting out of my head. Before Return to Self, I was known for The Problem With Dating, and so again (similar to when I left my corporate job to go solo), I was facing an identity crisis. However, a promise I made to myself long ago was that I would never hold on to something out of fear, and if I was able to pave a new path once before, I can do it again, and maybe even better this time. Truth be told, the steam behind The Problem With Dating was dying down for a while, but I wasn’t sure where to go next. When Return to Self dropped into my mind (quite literally), it became clear. All I had to do was allow this change to manifest, give myself permission to pivot and be seen.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve always hated the question, “What do you do?” because it was always so difficult for me to answer. What don’t I do? But then I realized it was hard for me because I was placing the emphasis on the wrong thing—doing. When I started focusing on my purpose, as opposed to the creations that manifest it, everything became clearer. I help educate and guide people back to themselves through various healing modalities and creative pursuits. I don’t limit myself. Whether it’s a card reading, a powerful Reiki healing, life coaching techniques, a book I’ve written, podcasting, or anything else I choose to create, it’s all done with the same intention—to help people remember who they were before the world taught them who to be. I think what sets me apart, and what I’m most proud of, is my authenticity. I have people who have followed me throughout many different ventures, and they’ll tell you that I’ve always been true to who I am, even when I was still figuring that out. There’s a sense of loyalty and trust that’s cultivated with those who follow my work that I cherish, and that reminds me that I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Given that I do card readings, I decided to get my affirmation deck out to see what message was needed for whoever is reading this. As I always say, take what resonates and leave what doesn’t. The affirmation card that flew out was, “My thoughts come and go freely, they do not define me.” So, for whoever this message is for, I hope that you allow yourself to be an observer to your thoughts instead of claiming ownership so that you can experience the type of freedom you deserve.
