Meet Brittney Brooks and Brandon Love of Ordo Ab Chao Design in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Brooks and Brandon Love.

Ordo Ab Chao Design (or easily known as OAC Design) was birthed in October 2015. Brandon is a talented industrial designer and Brittney’s business partner works his magic by bringing his ideas, as well as their clients’ ideas to life. They are a creative duo and after working in the furniture design industry for over 10 years, they discovered a niche and passion for incorporating technology and creativity into functional furniture pieces.

As co-founder and Creative Director of OAC Design, Brittney is focused on cultivating, developing and securing strategic engagements for the studio. She is keenly engaged in discovering and partnering with entrepreneurs, innovators, and enterprises that have the ambition to develop innovative and game-changing product experiences for the world. Brittney believes that hard work, collaboration and a little laughter can solve almost anything. She loves the challenge of helping others articulate and execute creative solutions and has experience across a wide range of clients including, Uber Technologies, Metro Contract Group, Petter Goods, Beswell and West Elm. She holds a BSA degree in Sociology from Cal State University, Northridge and enjoys contributing to the enlightenment of human experience through the use of everyday objects.

Brandon is a progressive industrial designer who believes that product, user experience and brand strategy are the keystones of great design. As co-founder and principal designer of OAC, the Long Beach-based industrial design and product development firm, Brandon pours creativity into each project while keeping his message meaningful and clear. For Brandon, a design is about communication, before decoration and developing products that stimulate human behavior, emotions, and attitudes towards objects. This approach has led to his work being featured in Interior Design, Contract, Esquire and Food & Wine magazine along with various awards. Before starting OAC, Brandon held leadership post at Phylrich, GRAFT, ICrave Design and Remedios Siembieda. Over the past ten years as a designer, Brandon has worked on a variety of design projects including interior spaces, furniture, consumer electronics, transportation and more. He holds an Interior Design degree from Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and a BFA in Product Design from Otis College of Art & Design, Los Angeles.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not. Running your own company has its ups and downs. As a product development company, our work is rooted in research and theory. Getting our clients to understand the importance of this is sometimes difficult. Anyone can create a product, but not many products have longevity, due to the failure of researching target industry and users, as well as understanding why current trending products are poorly rated. Today many brands are copying each other, these products lack creativity in design, function and form. Another struggle has been our price point. We believe in fabricating and manufacturing our products locally. We support local artisans and craftsman by partnering with facilities in our town. We believe it is better quality and more sustainable for our economy.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ordo Ab Chao Design – what should we know?
What is OAC?
OAC is an acronym for Ordo Ab Chao (Or-doe/ahb/Kay-oh) which is a Latin expression meaning ‘Order out of Chaos’ and denotes our creative process of bringing the mind to matter. We are a team of creatives, coders, engineers and wizards eager to help you transform innovative ideas into amazing products people will love.

OAC is an industrial design and product development company in Long Beach, CA. We help innovators, businesses, and governments build a better future through the development of products that have a positive impact on society. We translate complex ideas into innovative solutions that stimulate human behavior, emotions, and attitudes towards objects. OAC develops award-winning innovation across strategy, industrial design, and UX, which produces work that is both inspired and applicable to the end user. From intelligent furniture systems and transportation design to mobile apps and the next generation of the medical device, we create products that exceed the demands of tomorrow and today.

OAC has extensive product development experience and works with some of the top people in the creative fields, industrial designers, engineers, programmers, illustrators, researchers and fabricators to make your project a cut above the competition. We can take your ideas from initial concept to finished execution.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
At OAC, we believe that design process is a collaboration that fuses our creative strengths with our client’s in-depth understanding to produce products that sing harmoniously with their brand. Because great design starts by understanding your problems, we begin by asking questions. A lot of questions. We work to understand your self-image, goals, audience, project parameters and desired outcomes. We research your intended audiences and study the competition.

We define the design problems and discover strategies for solving those problems effectively and memorable.
