Meet Brittanie Adaire Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittanie Adaire Rodriguez.

Brittanie Adaire, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Los Angeles about nine years now, (wow)! I moved from the Central Valley in Ca, to attend CSU Los Angeles in the pursuit of Biology. I really thought I was going to be in the medical field (I’m sure a lot of Bio majors can relate). Up until my senior year of college, I was still looking into medical school, and then one of my Professors sent me an email for a field research volunteer opportunity with the non-profit Blueprint Earth.

I had never gone out into the field and I had never used my Bio knowledge hands-on anywhere but the lab. So I signed up and that Spring break I was on my way to the Mojave Desert! On that first trip is when I realized I wanted to work in the field, I genuinely enjoyed myself and I realized how much I loved plants! I took more plant-related classes and learned that plants do a lot for us, they are essentially our natural pharmacies and they are just so dang pleasing to look at!

After I had graduated in 2014, I was kinda lost, floating around working my server job and applying to entry-level Biology jobs (which are all lab-based). A few years had past and I was feeling burnt out and unfulfilled, I now had two serving jobs and no end in sight!

I then started really asking the Universe to show me my purpose, my path, I was ready for change and I let it be known. A few very unfortunate events took place right after the other. The most impactful event was my 45-year-old uncle being diagnosed with three types of terminal cancer. The diagnoses came out of nowhere, and within one month of his diagnoses, he died. It was while he was on his death bed that I realized how short life is and that I had to live in my purpose. I decided then I would start my hiking company, Brittanie Adaire Hikes! I enrolled myself in an entrepreneur class at Pasadena city college and learned from as many people as I could!

It’s been almost two years and so much has changed, I’ve learned a whole lot and have met some AMAZING PEOPLE! I am now a full-time entrepreneur and am so grateful for the impact I am making in this world. It took a lot of mistakes, (I’m still making them), self-education, being humble and taking advice, admitting I know nothing and believing in myself and my dream as well as creating community and giving back and of course gratitude!

I’m getting ready to officially launch my newest business endeavor… my delicious, one of a kind, vegan bread company. Seriously the best bread you have ever had, that’s coming straight from the mouth of my clients! Life has to lead me to some really amazing places, I’m forever grateful.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been smooth. Having to juggle finances, personal life and business every day can become draining and confusing. People don’t talk about the personal growth that takes place as an entrepreneur, I had no entrepreneurial training or exposure growing up. I come from a poor background, my family wasn’t educated on finances or credit or business. I’ve had to do a lot of deep inner work to re-program my mind from a lacking mindset to one of abundance. It’s tough dealing with my inner work and hustling hard to provide for myself as well as working on my business and self-educating. I’ve transformed into a more assertive, goal-driven, self-aware and grateful person throughout these two years, but it’s definitely been rough and not an easy task. Realizing I have to be bigger than my doubts and fears can be tough at times. My dream and my WHY keep me going!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Brittanie Adaire Hikes motivates, educates, inspires and restores others through nature. As a Biologist I have a passion for the outdoors and hiking, the education about our planet and ecosystems and I see the vital importance and impact nature has on our lives. I grew up in nature thanks to my grandparents and I see how I used nature as a therapeutic tool growing up, I still use it as that today. I’m huge on Earthing and really connecting with our planet, she is one big Antioxidant with the ability to prevent and cure disease.

Brittanie Adaire believes the more knowledge people have for our planet and native ecosystem the more likely they are to protect our planet and do more to create a positive change for our planet.

Brittanie Adaire Hikes is known for our experiences, which can be customized for any age group and interest! Ranging from working with the YWCA to millennial hikers who just want a fun and unique outdoor experience. If you have a fear of the outdoors, don’t think you’re in good enough shape or have no one to hike we got you covered! Whatever your concerns are we are happy to provide a solution. You will learn something new on every hike guaranteed, each hike offers Ecological and historical education!

I am most proud that my company has a diverse range of clients and through this work, I have inspired people who had never hiked, (some who really didn’t care for nature or hiking) to love hiking, to appreciate nature and all it does for us.

We are different than other outdoor companies due to my creativity and education as well as diverse background. I not only educate others on our planet but use my creativity for fun and unique outdoor experiences, I understand not everyone has the tools they need to feel comfortable outdoors, not everyone has been exposed to the benefits of nature and that is what I am bringing to my clients. I provide high-end quality hikes filled with value that keep my clients coming back.

Through my creative experiences I know I am able to find a hike for just about anyone! Not only do you receive education about the Ecosystem, Geology, and history of the trails, but I also offer painting and picnic bundles, Earthing experiences, haunted hikes, etc.

Adaire to B Brave!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I do feel Los Angeles is a great place to start a business like Brittanie Adaire Hikes! There is so much history in our mountains, the mountains are easily accessible and there is a wide range of clientele.

I definitely recommend starting out here, no dream is too big for the people of Los Angeles, something that I deeply admire about our city. You just need to find your target market and your community!

Community is everything, the more you support others, the more they will support you and collaboration is key.
