Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgett Devoue.
Bridgett, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a poet that started writing to get over a broken heart. I realized at the end of getting over my heartbreak that I was so much wiser and stronger because of it, therefore negative things can have positive outcomes and shouldn’t be feared. Poetry is such an amazing way to allow your heart and soul to speak, so I published my book “Soft Thorns” as a way to spread these messages.
I also live stream on twitch.tv/Bridgett where I’m able to talk with people in real-time and am focused on building a community, as well as posting on Twitter and Instagram under the username BridgettDevoue.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, but nothing in life is, and that’s what makes it worth it. When you fight for something, you grow and learn from the experience and become stronger for it.
I dealt with a traumatic pain condition, heartbreak, bullies, rejection… you name it. But everyone who ever accomplished something has had similar struggles to me.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m known for writing the book “Soft Thorns” and live streaming/posting on social media where I spread similar messages of positivity as I wrote about in my book.
I think what sets me apart is my ability to handle the hate and defuse tension, and my patience. I never let the internet bullies get to me because I believe they’re hurting too, and we’re all more similar than we give ourselves credit for.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My drive to succeed is the key to my success. If something doesn’t work out, then I’ll keep fighting until something does. I never get up if I’m passionate. I’ll fight for what I believe in till I die.
