Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Brady.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I came from a strong Corporate America background and worked as an IT Software Developer and IT Project Manager for 15 years. I spent 7 of those years working on Wall Street in New York City, and most of my corporate career was in the financial sector.
I was working in the mortgage/banking industry when the 2008, 2009, 2010 crash came. In 2010 I was laid off from my very fancy, high-paying consulting job. Since I was a consultant I was given no notice, no severance, no nothing…just an email basically saying, “Thanks so much for your eight years of excellent service, today is your last day.”
I used to call this my “year of financial ruin”; I now call this my “year of the phoenix”…because apparently I had to burn my life to the ground to re-create it. In a 5-month period, I lost my job, my pretty-pretty place to live one block from the ocean in Playa del Rey, and my boyfriend left me….because apparently he was in it for the money. Seriously.
I had to move to a place I did not want to live, and since I had lost my income, was living on $7 per week for groceries. It was a very dark time for me. I was broke and broken. I spent two months lying on my floor, watching free Hulu, feeling very sorry for myself. (Yes…literally on my floor…when my boyfriend left, he took most of what we owned…furniture, silverware, pots and pans, coffee maker, etc.) I was far too depressed to job-hunt, and there were really no jobs to be had at that time anyway. Then a little voice inside me said, “Bridget, you’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur, you’ve dreamt about it, talked about….even studied it….maybe now is the time to really GO for it.”
And so I did. I spent the next year or so failing-forward. (This was mostly failing.) I tried a few different businesses and had some success, but THEN…from classes I’d taken, but never really utilized, started applying social media marketing and online marketing to everything I did, and woman-oh-woman am I glad I did. My business started to grow and grow and grow…and grow. I was able to move from a very tiny, very crappy apartment in the Inland Empire to a lovely place in Calabasas, and my colleagues started to take notice…and ask for help.
So, I took my passion for helping others, coupled it with my online marketing expertise and thus Amp Up My Biz was born!
We are now a team of 13 brilliant strategists, social media managers, copywriters, graphic designers, and web designers.
From there, I wrote my #1 International Best Selling book, “Jobs to Jammies! Get Out of Your J.O.B. & Be a Work-In-Your-PJs Entrepreneur.”
Yearning to help even more entrepreneurs, I created my signature digital course, “The Social Media Success Academy” to help business owners and entrepreneurs overcome their social media overwhelm, cut through the confusion and create true success on social, grow their businesses and live a life they love.
I now live in Agoura Hills and have had the opportunity to help literally THOUSANDS of business owners grow their businesses.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

So…no definitely not smooth….but DEFINITELY worth it.
