Meet Brianna Monae of Discoverbri in South Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Monae.

Brianna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a Los Angeles native, born in Inglewood, California. I reside in the Inland Empire, But LA raised me and my love for fashion. My first introduction to fashion was at a very young age. I was enthralled by my mom’s wardrobe. She would often find me in her expensive designer shoes, silk tops and her finest jewelry. My dream was always to become a fashion designer or a fashion stylists. I just knew I had a creative talent and I wanted to make use of it.

Growing up ,I can remember watching old school show’s where the women would wear bright and bold colored clothing. I later realized how drawn I was to very classic and vintage pieces. My eye goes straight to color and the structure of clothing, I developed my own sense of style year’s later. From middle school to high school I alway’s stood out amongst my friend’s and after graduating I enrolled in college courses which sparked a “newfound” love for styling and designing my own clothes. I knew my creativity and eye for detail would take me far. It allowed me to be creative and inspire to want to help other girl’s feel there best and confident.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I believe there will always be struggles in life but it’s all about how you handle it and move forward from those obstacles. My personal encountered challenge’s were dealing with a variety of people in this business. I’m a natural introvert and it took me a while to come out of my comfort zone to network with people. The only way I was going to overcome these challenge’s were to attended several networking events, fashion shows and socials mixers. I then became more comfortable around people and was able to build friendships and business relationships. If I had to give one piece of advice in this Business it would be “to stay firm about your choices”, don’t go backwards to habits that weren’t allowing you to evolve, Try to stay positive about what’s to come and always protect your momentum and to share your direction wisely.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Earlier this year,I was fortunate to create my first collection that I named “l3 l2 1”which is BRI in numbers. I presented my line in the phreedom fashion experience fashion show during BET weekend along side my brother @phreeart. I created 10 unique looks in only 4 days! This experience , elevated my skill-set to the next level. I’m now more focused on my goals and I will continue to work on my craft and look forward to creating my next collection.

I’ve recently branded myself as Brianna Monae. I’m a freelance fashion stylist who is based in the LA area. I completed the School of style certificate program and I’m setting the standard among Los Angeles Fashion elite. I’m impressing the industry with my eye for cutting edge style. I have a flare for detail whether it is designer established or emerging brands. I possess the ability to mix labels, looks and trends To astonishing effects. I love to showcase a variety of my looks and show that I’m always the one that will stand out in a room full of people.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I get a lot of love and support from my close friends and family. But I have to give a lot of credit to first God because without him I wouldn’t have made it this far, and I’m still on the rise to becoming so much greater. I thank him for all the things I had to go through and came out of.

Second would be my older brother @PhreeArt, he’s always going above and beyond for me. If I can name one of the most hard working and dedicated people I know it would be him. He’s constantly working hard and on the go, he make’s sure I’m being connected to the right people and he constantly pushes me to create and work harder than ever before.

I also have to give a lot of credit to my mom & dad. They are my number one Creators that made me the way I am. I’m so blessed to have my dad who loves and supports me unconditionally. My mom is my biggest cheerleader, she’s always guiding me and speaking words of love and wisdom into my life, I can’t thank them enough for all they do for me.

Lastly I want to say thank you to @evitamailan, she’s the first person I met when I started out in LA. She’s very loving and genuine and I truly appreciate everything she did for me. I want to say thank you to my sisters/Bestfriends @lexxieeh and @tayelise for being there from the start and watching me grow into the women I am today. I am thankful to be connected to so many people who understand me and my purpose in life.
