Today we’d like to introduce you to Bree Jacoby.
Bree is a Los Angeles native with a splash of East Coast mentality and spunk.
Bree’s been an entrepreneur since she was 13 years old, with her first company being a jewelry business. By 20, she was managing and building up retail businesses in Los Angeles and New York City. Bree grew up in a family business and saw at a young age what it took to build a company. With a strong sense of style and passion, Bree has taken her combined love for growing retail companies and styling to new heights by creating a one of a kind membership based styling service for people who do not want to shop. She fiercely believes her clients shouldn’t have to think about how to dress. They should let her do the thinking for them so they can focus on what they love doing. If she can make them more successful while also looking their best, that’s Bree’s motto.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not necessarily it has not been smooth. I went through my early to mid 20’s thinking with the sense of urgency in the stomach that what I was doing work for other people did not feel right to me. I always knew I was meant to be doing something in a big way that would really affect change in an industry. I was that employee that would pull my boss aside and give them loads of ideas on how to better our business and then I finally realized I have the idea of my own business! I started really building my career after my first year of college when I came home and started working part-time sales at a boutique. I had to really think outside the box to make that store the number one store in the company. I was able to flip the store around after a year to become the top store based on their numbers compared to previous years. I say it wasn’t smooth because I struggled for years working for other people with a knot in my stomach that I was meant to be running a company and couldn’t put my finger on what that would be. I worked for companies and grew within organizations which has brought me to where I am now. I would not have had the confidence to start a company without the struggles I have had to go through.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a membership based styling company working with successful individuals who do not want or have the time to go shopping. Our members want the personalized shopping experience within the comfort of their home or our office. We first bring on new members by providing what we call “The Entry” our starter packet with us. When any new client comes on board we prefer to see their closet and bring up to 25 items to their home that we know they need from our initial phone consultation. After the first styling appointment, people buy memberships with us so they can count on us to do the thinking for them. On average our members shop 4-6X a year and also have access to virtually ask us questions, text us with pictures or even share a digital look book of all their new outfits.
There is no personal shopping company doing what we do to the extent of how we are doing it. We are a virtual retailer without any inventory constraints. We are changing retail at the same time providing a ton of money into stores we work with and helping them grow their brands while creating a cool shopping experience for a member. We provide the three main c’s: closets, custom and clothing. 60% of our member base is male. Our members are in the financial industry, law, architecture and design, public relations, film industry, or some of the biggest Founders of Drybar, Classpass, Fab Fit Fun and COO of MGM.
We are now partners with Westfield Topanga and Century City as their VIP luxury personal shopping company to work with their clients. We are on the lists of the best hotel concierges in Los Angeles. We work with clients all across the country spanning from LA, SF to NYC.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We see a HUGE change coming. Consumers want cool experiences with the right options shown to them instead of tons of options. People don’t want to make all their own chocies, they want simplicity and to feel catered too.
We believe, the human interaction and need will never go away. People like to be told what to wear and what to buy. When you are given so many choices every single day, we believe you should only be shown the best options for you.
