Meet Bre Podgorski of LiveSounds in Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre Podgorski.

Bre, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been a professional musician and entertainer for the last ten years and honestly, it’s all I’ve ever really wanted to do. So when the pandemic hit in March of 2020, I was thrown for a complete loop. Like many musicians, the very small and inconsequential question of, “How the hell am I going to survive??” played through my mind on repeat. All of the bars and venues were closed, the piano bar gig I had enjoyed for the last year was canceled indefinitely, and the plethora of opportunities I had worked so hard for dried up almost instantaneously.

With nothing but time on my hands, I started thinking of ways I could take what I had learned from my years of performing and bring it online. I wanted to create an online show that was fun and interactive, but also offered something that live shows couldn’t – a direct connection to the performer.

After doing virtual piano bars on Twitch, I met my future co-founder Art Herrera in a Facebook networking group, and we started brainstorming about how to adjust my virtual piano bar to fit the needs of the socially distanced populace.

We decided to form a company called LiveSounds, and shortly thereafter developed our flagship show, Project Piano Bar, a musical show with games baked into every song and every song is up for request. After testing the waters in the market, we realized that people didn’t need another form of pure entertainment, they needed connection. We decided to flip our model on its head and use entertainment as a way to connect people socially by combining video conferencing and live streams to create a co-viewing experience of our shows. Now, our audience members log onto our video conferencing platform, get split into virtual breakout rooms with their friends, and then watch the live stream performance together, with the host playing team games and interacting with them the whole time.

Though many people talk about wanting things to go back to normal, we realized early on that we wanted to be part of what defined the new normal for entertainers and audience members. We’ve been finding a ton of success with this model and are stoked to bring this new virtual experience to the world!

Has it been a smooth road?
Because virtual events like ours had never really been done before, we initially struggled to find the right market for our events. After some trial and error, we discovered that young adults really connected to our social model and began focusing primarily on 18-35 years old, which has yielded some great results.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with LiveSounds – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
LiveSounds is the first virtual entertainment company that uses entertainment as a tool to facilitate social connection. We produce highly interactive and engaging virtual shows that combine live stream and video conferencing to create a co-viewing experience for our audience members. Our mission is to produce audience centric entertainment, which we achieve with shows like Project Piano Bar by combining live music, song requests, and music-based team games that audience members play and enjoy together.

Our shows are truly one of a kind! We are continually thrilled at the response we are getting from our audience members and we’re so proud to see how our hard work is paying off.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The diversity of this city has to be my favorite part of living here. We have a ton of transplants from different states and different countries who bring a little piece of their culture with them every time they come, which results in such a vibrant and culturally rich place to live.

My least favorite part has got to be that the city streets are filled with trash. We live in such a beautiful state, you’d think people would want to take care of it a bit more!
