Meet Brandon Pokowski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Pokowski.

Brandon, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Pembroke Pines, Florida, which is a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. I grew up as the only child of a Polish-American father and Spanish-American mother. Most kids grow up living in the same town their whole lives. My story takes us across North and Central America before reaching Los Angeles.

I lived between Montana and Costa Rica as a young boy. I returned to the U.S. once my education started. I was living in Michigan for years before heading to Dallas, where I finished junior high. Beginning my sophomore year of high school, I moved back to Florida, where I made the best decision for my future.

I remember sitting down thinking to myself: “What am I going to do when high school is finished?” I had no plans, ideas, or dreams for myself. I moved around a lot and it made me a shy, quiet person over the years. I wanted to change myself, so I began to write a list of occupations to explore. I started by going down the alphabet. “A” the first thing I thought was… ACTING. I never realized I could be doing that as my profession. Throughout my life, I always had movies with me. Hundreds of DVDs of my favorite films, tv series, cartoons. I was a fanatic and I enjoyed acting without even knowing the possibility was there for me.

I decided to sign up for the drama program. That was the best decision I ever made. I fell in love instantly and knew this was my destiny. Halfway through my senior year, I traveled to New York for auditions to attend acting programs. Acting changed my life; it turned me into a confident, charismatic young man.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always obstacles in life, but I believe without challenges we will never grow, never evolve into who we’re meant to be. Everyone has a path; it’s the path you chose and the obstacles faced that brought you to where you are today. We all could be doing one of a hundred different jobs, living in one of several different locations, with numerous different friends. I’m fortunate to be right here, following my path in performing and telling stories.

“What were some of the struggles?” I moved to Los Angeles when I was eighteen to study at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I was on my own for the very first time in my life. Living and studying with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and practices. Everyone is feeling, learning, competing against each other. The beautiful thing is those people are studying in the arts and have the same love and ambitions that I do.

Graduating from the Academy brought new obstacles. I was no longer under the safety a school provided for two years. I needed to find a job, pay bills, make rent, and of course, keep my dreams alive. I had to maintain focus on my goals. I did whatever acting opportunity came my way like independent films, shorts, student projects, background, photo doubling, stand-in work. I’ve been on the right path for a while and I had lots of opportunities to be on a set of some of the biggest tv shows and movies in the last few years.

Thankfully, all the hard work paid off. I received SAG eligibility, I joined the union and recently got new representation with ties to opportunities on both the East and West Coast.

Please tell us about your work.
I’m an entertainer. I love entertaining people; watching others being entertained makes me feel good. The purpose of my life is to free people of their concerns. I want to inspire them. Nothing is more valuable to me than the effect you have on others. I’m just trying to serve the world.

I’m one guy, I can’t do this all alone. Many people assist me in my business. Without my agent working hard to locate creative roles and auditions for me, I’d have trouble getting into doors. Fellow actors assist me. Telling stories alongside someone who is invested in roles as much as me; helps to elevate my performance to another level. The crew on set is the muscle that keeps a business standing. I wouldn’t look as good without them. I have so much respect for what they bring to production. And my family, you know I wouldn’t be here without you. The support and love I receive from them go above and beyond expectations.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Aside from achieving my dreams on the silver screen and Broadway, I look forward to being behind the camera and directing, maybe opening a production company someday. Everything in this industry is a process and it’s not always easy; you have to stay positive and continue working if you’re going to inch your way forward. Nothing is given to you. For me, it’s worth the journey. Unfortunately, most people don’t follow their dreams, or they give up on them by choosing to settle into life. That’s not who I am. This is the only thing I was meant to do. I’ll continue to do everything I can to reach my goals of being a successful, full-time actor and storyteller.

If you ever think of how many people you have with you and how many you have against you , the numbers will rise from the against you category. Eventually the number of people with you could be counted on one hand !
Brandon Pokowski is one of those special gems that you can count on that one hand !!! This young man will be successful in all aspects of his life but the main focus is to be successful in your mind first . Brandon Pokowski
has the maturity and understanding of responsibilities to handle such a career. Someone once told its not how you start life it is simply how you finish it . These are words that I believe Brandon follows by without even knowing it. To take yourself from a vast amount of areas in your life and use that to an advantage of learning instead of disorganized structures takes a special person . I hope everyone who reviews Mr. Brandon Pokowski
will get an idea of the dedication and pure solidness of such a young man . Brandon you will always do great.
    Sincerely, Dylan Newman
