Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Le.
Brandon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The younger me was a game head (loved video games) I got bored of it one day, got on YouTube came across a DIY video by this guy name KenAndrewDaily, I forgot what it was but I started watching a bunch of his other videos and got inspired, I sold my Xbox and got a sewing machine, I started off learning how to taper pants and a couple basic/simple things…
Fast forward to freshman year at Norfolk state university, I met a guy a name Terrence one of the founders of Random Object Gallery, he got me out of my comfort zone and got me trying out different fabrics and making pieces from scratch, he’s one of the reasons at where I at now! THANK YOU TO HIM!
I dropped my first denim reconstruction project in 2017 and ever since then I’ve been working my ass off, but 2019 was one of my best years I believe I learned so much and went through so much, I dropped a tote bag project on my birthday and it sold out within 48 hours my biggest accomplishment so far, recently I have been working with a friend name dodge Mccoy, we recently dropped a collab project called “Ambiance of Fall” expect more content from me, dodge, and random object gallery.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Its been a rough road, there are days I feel no motivation to do anything and there are days when I’m working all day like I’m focused, my phone is my biggest distraction sadly lol but I’m working on that, I love that fact I can bring people ideas to life and how they react to it, that what helps me continue what I do, but I love to it for myself it’s my source of income, it’s my favorite job.
Ricky Le – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a “fashion designer” I up-cycle clothes and can make couple clothing pieces from scratch, I think I’m known for my jeans, back in college and I still hear it till this but all my friends would be like “Ricky Le my jeans’ when they wear they jeans I make them and it makes me smile. I’m proud of how much I learned from the past few years and seeing how much I progressed, it’s like a growing plant and watching it grow every day. I feel like what sets me apart from others is my consistency I have been having lately, out of all my peers I’m the only one making clothes tbh, my work time.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
2019, I had a plan and stuck to it and its been the best one yet so far, I met a lot of supporters, either sharing my work or even purchasing something from me, I felt like my networking skills got better, the consistency, and my knowledge I have gained.
