Meet Brandon Dean Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Dean Johnson.

Hi Brandon Dean, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
So my story is definitely jammed packed! I am the CEO and founder of BigFooters, a start-up production and development company for animation and live-action content. Through BigFooters, I am the creator of a youtube series called Ratchet Raychel, which recently got 100% funded through Indiegogo for a pilot episode. On top of all this, I have over 6+ years of animation production experience and have worked on projects associated with studios like Warner Bros, Disney, DreamWorks, and Netflix. Considering how much work I have put in over the years, I have to admit that the pressure is relatively high, especially when hit with the question of “what next” for me.

So over December, I decided to create 101 different art pieces based on characters from Ratchet Raychel called The Hoodlins. The Hoodlins are one of the many characters that I have given birth to within The Ratchet Raychel Show universe. So now I will be displaying all 101 pieces in my first ever solo art show called 101 Hoodlins here in Los Angeles.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Moving to LA was the biggest struggle. I traveled here with my friend and cousin all the way from North Carolina. Once here, we were homeless for a bit which was rough, especially with no friends or family living here able to help with our situation. I believe once I got through this, I was confident enough to start creating interesting projects that others would want to work on. It was this time of being in the lowest state that I was able to become confident and smarter about my craft and abilities.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
BigFooters has allowed me to be a creator, director, and producer. Thus, I have my own YouTube series called Ratchet Raychel. Although this project started off on YouTube, I have raised funds that will allow me to officially introduce it to different networks and streaming platforms.

At the beginning of 2021 I started a side project based on characters from Ratchet Raychel, “The Hoodlins”. I started painting and designing tons of canvas / digital art showcasing the characters. I recently presented 101+ pieces at my first ever solo art show.

For those that are interested in learning more, you can watch my 22 minute behind the scenes Documentary that BigFooters’ put together called The Story Of 101 Hoodlins. This documentary goes over some challenges, visions and day to day activists leading up to the show.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My personality has definitely got into a lot of doors! Personality is key in this industry.
