Today we’d like to introduce you to Jughead.
Jughead, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was always a writer and always had a way with words. Started out as a rapper always had a strong passion for music at a young age played in the school band and orchestra middle school throughout high school. Started making beats in 2006 because it was hard to find beats to rap on then grew a passion for producing. Been perfecting that craft ever since. Somewhere between then and now, I grew a passion for cutting hair and became a barber. I knew cutting hair would help grow my network and people started hitting me up for beats. I got into songwriting around 2012 when a friend and I began making music creating a small internet buzz with some music we released. Moved to LA in 2017 ran into the right people who got me in some rooms with big name producers and wrote Kehlani’s “nights like this” ft. Ty Dolla sign been working in LA as a songwriter ever since.
Has it been a smooth road?
Too many obstacles sometimes I wonder how I even figured some stuff out but just keeping faith in myself and being so strong-willed and determined to succeed I always keep it pushing I have mouths to feed
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jughead Productions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
As a writer, I’m a pure lyricist wordplay and concepts is something I like to think is what I do best. I can sing melody but I’m not a singer, so as a writer, I work best with someone who really has the vocals to bring my ideas to life. I’m pretty good at seeing sounds I can hear words in mumble melodies and turn them into crazy lines for a song.
I’m most proud of myself for being able to adapt to any situation, good or bad and making the best of it.
What sets me apart from others is i am unapologetically myself no matter what.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The things we enjoy marginally back home in Ohio (legal weed, sunny weather, beautiful women) you guys enjoy in abundance all year around. Most importantly, it’s the opportunities available in LA that I love. Literally, anything you want to be you can make happen here.
