Meet Bobby Tsui of The Same Circle Method in West Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Tsui.

Bobby, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was always a passionate creative. My first creative career was in music production and engineering. I interned at some of the best music studios in Hollywood and sat on engineering sessions with many of the contemporary and revered artists of our day. It wasn’t before long when I landed a corporate marketing role at a record label. That’s when I caught the branding, PR, and marketing bug. I was fascinated with the way artists personally branded themselves and how the corporate machine supported them to reach the goal of selling records. From music to branding to fashion, I always felt like I had the innovative chops to progress the industry forward. It’s an electrifying feeling, quite frankly. I’ve always been grateful as a human being to feel it! While I’ve had multiple stints in many creative endeavors, the first turning point came when I headed up marketing at a commercial design firm without ever figuring out how to do it successfully. There was something about that failure that I wanted to transform because after I was fired, I knew deep down that I had to figure it out once and for all.

A couple of corporate jobs later, I found myself finding a strong resolve to strike out on my own as a marketing consultant. A consultant turned agency owner and then six years later, I found my team serving a niche of growing firms in the built environment, mostly consisting of interior design and remodeling firms. Our services though were mostly unaffordable to many designers who really needed help at the time. After hearing from so many prospective clients that we had to unfortunately turn away, I knew that I wanted to serve, coach, and empower designers and creatives on a much deeper level. And thus…The Same Circle Method was born and it’s growing. We give interior designers the tools to break out of their comfort zones and become influencers in their market, so they can effortlessly position themselves to attract their ideal clients. We facilitate this through an e-learning coaching platform, proven social media and video marketing processes, mindset performance training, and a thriving community of interior designers.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road wasn’t smooth in the beginning, to say the least! One of the biggest struggles I had was figuring out how to provide the minimum effective dose to help our coaching students reach their desired goals of standing out and booking great projects. From that struggle, I learned the best lesson of all. Our members don’t want (or need) to become full-fledged marketers! I was doing a disservice to designers by trying to clone myself multiple times over when all they needed to know was to implement 10% of my expertise. Needless to say, optimizing our delivery and coaching process to achieve a high success rate for our coaching members was a lesson I had to quickly learn. Providing a quality service and support is paramount to our core values.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am the CEO of The Same Circle Method. I coach design professionals and creatives to learn how to attract clients online using The Same Circle Method so they can stand out, show stability in their business, and gain reverence for their work. The biggest problem for design professionals is that their growth is chained to referrals and word of mouth. Their second biggest problem is they attempt to grow with vanity metrics on social media and never end up finding clients online. What I’m known for is helping them to narrow their focus and niche down using my signature lens and methodology. I am most proud of being able to support our clients with marketing methods that support their cash flow in the short term as they scale for long-term visibility in the marketplace. I am not a designer and I am also everything else that they aren’t. What sets me apart from others is that I provide the scaffolding and structure to their social media presence that allows them to stand out while booking consults with consistency and predictability.

How do you define success?
I personally define success as being in integrity with my values. Some of my top values are health, relationships, family, innovation, and contribution. In health, I’m looking for the minimum daily habits that will sustain and nurture me like meditation, exercise and juicing. In relationships, I make sure that I look for people who are natural connectors and surround myself with change makers. No matter how busy my day is, I make a real effort to pause, connect with, and create space for the individual in front of me. My family is growing and I have a newborn son that has rocked my world recently. Must keep the family unit rock steady! My thirst for innovation dovetails into my thirst for contribution to humanity. With my current company, I am looking to deliver the most innovative product and service that will help facilitate the forward progression of the industry for years to come. I realize this can sound a little “out there”, but I believe that as our civilization advances in the future, our reality will be reshaped and so will the work of designers as they develop new meaning for the betterment of mankind.
