Meet Bobak Razi and Zaur Yevdayev of Stickmanpark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobak Razi and Zaur Yevdayev.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We first met at California State University Long Beach. We were enrolled in the industrial design program. After graduating, we were both employed as product designers for a number of years before deciding to start our own company specializing in architectural millwork for the hospitality industry. As our business flourished, so did our friendship and it became evident that we worked well together.

We shared a similar set of skills, but each of us had strengths and weaknesses. Our differences seemed to complement each other, in that we were able to teach the other what he did not know. Through these experiences, we recognized the benefits of teamwork. We were able to accomplish a lot together, and the business was very successful.

Bob eventually moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area to be near his family, but Zaur kept the company, which he still owns today. We stayed in touch over the years. Time did not stifle the innovation, creativity, or the entrepreneurial spirit we both share. In 2017, the idea for “The Benchmen,” a unique interpretation of a three-person bench, brought us back together. After many hours in the shop, we refined our design and created a true work of art.

The successful completion of this one idea quickly leads to the development of similarly themed products. All our efforts culminated in the inevitable creation of our business, Stickmanpark.

Has it been a smooth road?
When you are in business, every day presents new opportunities and challenges. The design process alone can be extremely time-consuming. The goal is to refine our products so that every aspect is the best it can be while using environmentally conscious materials. The details take thought and energy and often, despite our best efforts, there are things we cannot foresee.

Every step takes more time than you expect- from angling the seat in order to make it comfortable to choosing a paint finish best suited for outdoor conditions. We recognize this is the traditional evolution, but it is not an easy road. There are many benefits to going through the design process as it allows for discovery that may be beneficial to developing future products.

One of our greatest challenges to date has been in promotion and advertisement. Getting the word out there and letting people know we exist has not been easy, and the costs can be significant for any new company. Our current focus is on growing product awareness, generating sales, and building a brand that is fun and exciting to people.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Stickmanpark story. Tell us more about the business.
Stickmanpark was founded on the idea that an unbridled imagination is an essential component of the innovative design. We are a design and manufacturing company with a passion for creating playful products that reflect the world around us. We have assembled a team of highly skilled designers and craftsman who are committed to developing unique objects that are built to last.

Stickmanpark is currently releasing a full line of residential and commercial furniture. We want our products to speak for themselves. We offer vivid, eye-catching, clever solutions to some of life’s most ordinary objects.

We are proud that as a company, we have been lucky to find an extremely talented group of people that take pride in what they do every day, and pay attention to the details as much as we do. What sets us apart from our competition is our overall vision, unique and innovative designs, quality, and craftsmanship.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think the furniture industry continues to be strong through 2018 and 2019, but we are concern that this industry is usually cyclic and at this time we are adding multiple high volumes and lower cost maintenance products for parks/outdoors that we think will sustain the business through slumps and downturns.
