Meet Blake Van Putten of CheckIn in View Park-Windsor Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blake Van Putten.

Blake Van Putten, a Howard University graduate received his BBA in Supply Chain Management. He spent the past three years in New York City, where he learned about integrating business systems and managing multi-million-dollar projects covering Financial Institutional Groups. While working as a Senior Project Manager, he began his personal life-transition where he lost 50 pounds in 4 months. The journey was incredibly difficult, but could not have been possible without the help and support from his friends and family. We checkin and encourage each other to be better.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Mental roadblocks – The hardest part of making a lifestyle change is readjusting the way you think on a day to day basis. After telling myself that I want to better my life and live in a new light, it took multiple instances for it to actually tick. Having friends and family remind me of my purpose helped me get to where I am.

Physical roadblocks – You’d think the best way to get to your ideal physique is by working out 5-6x a week, right? Wrong. When I was going to the gym that often, I noticed that I was overworking my body and did not see any progress. In March of 2019, I broke the inside and outside of my ankle, which prohibited me from doing any heavy weight lifting. This setback was the setup for my next big comeback. I learned that a balanced diet, slight movement, and overall mood change helped me become the person I am today.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about CheckIn – what should we know?
I run an accountability platform, #CheckIn. The brand provides people with a safe space that helps reach and surpass their fitness goals. CheckIn provides means to post workouts, highlight progress, encourage others to be active, and hold others accountable who are not “Checkin[g]-In.” In order to check-in, all you need to do is post on Instagram and tag the page (

With over thousands of impressions, 70-90 story mentions a day, and tons of different friends being targeted, we are building a new wave of viral news. Check-In has garnered a nation-wide following, with a short-term goal of being a global accountability platform. Expert advice from HBR highlights that systematic and successful commitments are drilled down because of people building teams, stating purpose, and carrying out their goal to the end.
