Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Bercovici.
Ben, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In high school I played football, that was the what I wanted most. I never was able to play in College but I played a year at a Jr. College in Pasadena. While I was in high school, I also had a deep passion for shooting movies. I was never sure on how to do this but it is something I always loved doing even as a young child. I remember my dad buying me my first Super 8mm film camera. I was always running around the house filming. Out of high school I had to make a decision was it football or the movie business? After not really enjoying my football career at Pasadena City College I was able to get a job at Universal Studios, Yes, I was a tour guide. I thought this was a good way to get to understand the business. With this job I did learn a lot and was able to watch the film makers work on the studio lot and was able to meet many great people. During my 6 months at Universal I noticed there was a job board there and it had a listing for a Job at FOX as a PAGE. Did not really know what that was but it was a great first job into the business.
Through this job I was able to get a job in the FOX engineering dept as a Camera Assistant. Once again met some tremendous people along the way. In 1986 I was hired full time at FOX on a show called The Late Show with Joan Rivers, I was the Camera Crane Operator. Great Job. During this time, I was also working on my own on the weekends shooting videos for any type of special events, such as wedding, parties, etc. This turned into corporate videos, such as training, sales, promotional and many more. I also do music videos for Hailee Steinfeld. I had to make a decision weather I was going to stay at the studios or run my own business. The decision was final I decided to work on my own business and make it grow.
Today I have owned my own business for 31 years having some amazing clients such as Princess Cruise Lines, JBL Harman, Amgen, Medtronic and many more. I’m really glad I went on my own it gave me the opportunity to be with my 2 kids at all times. My daughter is now 26 she is one of the HR directors for ASU my son is 24 and funny enough he is a Pro football player with the Los Angeles Chargers. I’m extremely proud of both my kids. I have an incredible wife and we have been married as of April 2018 30 years. She is the love of my life. That’s my story for now.
Has it been a smooth road?
Owning your own business has been great at times and there are also many struggles. Finding good people are the key to a successful business. One of my editors Jeff Sterling is a big part of the company he has been with me for over 25 years and he is a tremendous asset to the company. Without the right crew it could be very difficult. Also, in 2011 I was hit with Cancer and could not really work much. But with the right people in place like Jeff, it made a difference in my life and we came out of that year still kicking.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a full cycle production company. We create content for companies from the initial script to the final completed file. We specialize in helping companies promote, market, or just film their amazing events for fun that they post on their social media sites. I’m most proud of the people that work with me, their efforts and the way they approach each and every project as thought it was their own. Very proud of that. Our customers are the most important part of our company and I believe what sets us apart is the Customer Service we give to them. When we are on a project for anyone of our customers, they feel as though they are the only project we are working on. We make them feel that way because we give them 100% effort. We always their deadlines, budgets no matter what we have to do. That our promise.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
As the song say “I love Los Angeles” I grew up there. There is just so many great Restaurants, so many different people, I love people watching. Los Angeles is just an exciting city with so much to do. What I do not like to see is how much homelessness has hit Los Angeles. You see this all over the City and it is very sad.
