Today we’d like to introduce you to Bella Crimson.
Bella, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to California from Boston in June 2014 to pursue acting, modeling, and music. Since then, I have learned a lot as well as accomplished a lot. There was a lot of “not giving up” that I’ve had to do, it helps that I’m too prideful to give up on my dreams. It wasn’t easy but I’m so grateful to still be here and for everything that I have. The end of 2016 is when I met my best friend, who now is not only my best friend but a business partner. I had no idea that it was just the start of a beautiful friendship, adventure, and journey of growth. We expanded our circle to the most beautiful, creative, kind hearted and underappreciated people we know and eventually became RNS Collective. As a collective, we do many things, whether it is needing hype people at your event, bringing your video/visual ideas to life, or putting our events on for creatives who deserve a real shot. Being so blessed to be around such inspiring people has helped me take a leap and put out my content which then brings me to Crimson Creations. Crimson Creations is where I get to bring my visions to life and share content that I was in charge of fully. Looking back now, I never would’ve guessed that I would be where I am today nor have accomplished everything I have.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I honestly don’t believe any journey towards your dreams is ever smooth. Anything worth having doesn’t come easy. The beginning was a lot harder than anything. When I first came to California, I was sleeping on some random person’s couch. I didn’t tell anyone because I didn’t want anyone to worry, but also I was embarrassed and didn’t think that not having a place when I got there was reason enough not to go for it. Some big lessons I’ve had to learn the hard way since being on this journey has been learning to trust my energy, not everyone is your friend no matter how long you’ve known them, and you have to make mistakes to grow. There were times where I’d get this vibe from a person, but I’d tell myself that I’m just being paranoid and then eventually got confirmation on what I was feeling. There have been people that I really thought were my friends but then when it came down to being a friend and looking out for me, that quality was nowhere to be found and there was no guilt for not being a friend at all. I have made a lot of mistakes that I am grateful for because I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am. There’s been A LOT of growth these past six years.
Please tell us about your work.
Crimson Creations is my outlet to create visions that I haven’t seen out there. For example, my most recent project was a short film about drug addiction. Instead of the typical situation where the addict is made to look like the bad guy, I humanized them and portrayed them as someone who is just lost and needs help to find their way back. You don’t see scenes like that in movies or tv shows, they all tend to show them as trash and unworthy of saving. I prefer to do what no one else is doing. RNS Collective, we are a group of incredibly talented artists who dance, sing, act, MC, direct, write, model, etc. We all have multiple talents and together we make magic. If you need people to ‘Get The Party Started”, we are your answer. If you have a video, vision, or film you’d like to bring to life; give us a call and we’ll make that happen. If you’re tired of not being given a second look, not getting the fair opportunity to share your talent with the world; connect with us and we’ll either get you the opportunity you deserve or we’ll create that opportunity. The industry tends to be very particular about what they want talent to look like without making talent the most important thing, so we are using our platforms to create opportunities for ourselves as well as others who deserve that same energy. As a collective, we care more about the art of creative expression and being celebrated for it. We want to change the industry and to make a change, you have to take a leap and do things on your own until you make enough noise for people to listen and people are listening. RNS collective, a business, a community, a family!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t regret anything at all but if I had to choose something, it would be that I came to LA sooner. Being here really has been such a blessing honestly. I strongly believe everything happens for a reason, so I’m perfectly content with how everything has happened. There are much more blessings to come.
