Meet Becci & Spencer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becci & Spencer.

Our story begins back in 2012, where we met in Manchester, England. At that time, we were both studying abroad, pursuing very different career paths. Becci was in the middle of finishing her degree in fashion and planned to work for a sustainable clothing brand and Spencer was on his way towards a Master’s Degree in International Relations. The eight years between then and now have been an incredible journey and one that ultimately led us to pursuing our passion within the health and wellness space.

When we moved to Los Angeles in 2016, we met a group of soon-to-be best friends that introduced us to eating a whole food, plant-based diet. That single decision, to change the way we eat, opened the doors to a whole new lifestyle. For Becci, she changed her career mindset and let go of the idea that she had to work in the industry that she studied to pursue a career in health and nutrition coaching. Spencer has continued his day job but spends considerable more time on his passion to help others find their own strength through natural movement training.

All of this is reflected on our website and social media, where we hope to inspire others to seek positive change by prioritizing their health and wellness goals.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In retrospect where we are today seems so natural, but it was anything but that as we grappled with, and continue to grapple with, societal norms and expectations, finding balance, and staying true to ourselves. One obstacle in particular that we may have overlooked when we started was working together as part of our own business. As a married couple, we’ve found a lot of success through communication, but starting a business brings a whole new set of challenges, from delegation of tasks, learning each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and so much more. Early on, we were constantly butting heads over simple decisions because we thought we each needed to do everything together. Later on, after a lot of trial and error, we realized that in order to be successful we needed to clearly define our responsibilities and not try to control every aspect of what the other person was doing. Once we figured that out we became a lot more efficient and started to find a lot more joy in the process.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Through our own transformation we’ve realized how important it is to have mentors along the way who inspire, motivate, keep you accountable, and above all empower you to take charge of your own health. It’s clear today that our current western lifestyle is failing us as obesity and depression soar, and more and more people are succumbing to chronic lifestyle diseases. The good news is, health and wellness don’t have to be complicated, expensive, or overly time-consuming.

Our aim is to provide a holistic approach to health based on the principles that Becci learned during her Health Coaching Certification Program. Becci offers both online and in-person coaching and specializes in helping others transition towards eating a more whole food plant-based diet to address weight loss, gut health and hormone regulation. While we understand that everyone is on their own health journey, we believe that everyone can add more fruit and veggies to their plate. We’ve found the best way to do this is by sharing our lifestyle and providing people with delicious, easy to make recipes that they can integrate into their life no matter where they are on their journey.

Our proudest achievement is finding our purpose and being able to share that with others in a positive and impactful way.

We believe that what sets us apart is our transparency and openness with our community. We truly believe in what we are doing and we live it everyday. Rather than suggesting to people a quick fix, we strive to help others see the benefits of long term, sustainable lifestyle choices that they can always carry with them.

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
Our future plans are to continue to build an engaged and informed health and wellness community. We are so passionate about our lifestyle and the positive benefits that have come as a consequence that we want to be able to share that with as many people as we can. We’d love it if we were able to host wellness retreats, release a cookbook, or open a cafe, but we understand that all of this is borne out of hard work, authenticity, and a community of like-minded people who support us.
