Meet Becca Stevens of Botanical Bright in Ventura

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becca Stevens.

Becca, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In my teens & early 20’s, I was obsessed with the psychology of happiness. I read every book I could get my hands on & one of the “keys” that stood out to me was surrounding yourself with nature. From this, my love for plants was born. I always joke that I’ll never get bored because plants come in so many shapes, textures, and colors. It feels like endless inspiration.

I’ve always been a creative person, and during this same period, I dabbled in LOTS of endeavors. I worked with watercolors, did graphic design, screen printed shirts, became obsessed with photography. The list goes on! For a long time, all these different directions felt well, different. It wasn’t until I started Botanical Bright that things began to come together and feel really right.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Many times I wish that my path was neat and tidy, but the truth is that my life lovely, but also messy. I have major psychological ups and downs. Depressive episodes are pretty typical for me, but I also feel incredibly happy a lot of the time and get massive hits of creative inspiration on the flip side.

I’ve spent a lot of my life so far attempting to “fix” myself (hence the years of studying positive psychology). I’m just starting to accept that some of the things I’ve viewed as my biggest weaknesses have also become my biggest strengths.

My moods and interests have always been a little all over the place. But that’s allowed me to quickly adapt in many situations and also given me an incredibly broad skillset! Comes in handy when running your own business!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Botanical Bright – what should we know?
My absolute favorite thing is taking an idea from nothing and turning it into something real that I can share with you. Sometimes it’s a succulent wreath, other times it’s designing pins or even just taking a photo. But plants are my constant inspiration. Whatever I’m making, I hope to create small reminders of (plant) positivity in your everyday life.

My big dream is to bring beauty and a little joy while also contributing to a cause that’s bigger than the both of us. Right now 5% of the profits made in my business are donated to the Nature Conservancy. I’m a big believer that every little bit counts and can make a difference!
