Meet Beatriz Barajas of Let’s Rock Men’s

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatriz Barajas.

Beatriz, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started a little over a year ago, May 2016. However, I have always loved vintage fashion, the history, how music is also hugely connected to fashion and vice-versa. I was inspired by my past of producing live music shows for local bands, and all of their styles that were unique to who they were. I started picking vintage clothes that reminded me of my favorites bands growing up, of pieces that would bring others some nostalgia, and also picking styles for men in a variety of sizes.

I started with just the plan of selling some vintage clothes online, but have been able to be part of some great pop-up events, music festivals, and vintage markets. I got even more inspired to start styling for shoots, working with local musicians, style people for special occasions, style my friends, and anyone that wanted to look good and feel great! I want to help men feel confident, have a stress-free shopping experience, and have someone to offer positive advice on their image, and have some fun!

Music is a huge part of my life, and a lot of my brand is inspired by my love of rock n’ roll from the 50s to the early 80’s, and even some 90’s.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I made some big sacrifices, like moving out of my apartment and moving in with roommates until my business grows more. I have also had to get more creative with my budget, do a lot of freelancing gigs, spend less time with friends and family. However, I am loving this journey so far, even with all of the ups and downs. Starting a small business is not easy, and it takes a lot of work, sacrifices, but I am loving this challenge and excited to keep going and growing along the way.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Let’s Rock Men’s Vintage – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I offer a stress-free shopping experience and one that is fun! I make men feel confident and badass, in the pieces that I help them choose in our appointments. I specialize in vintage from the 50’s to the early 80’s. I am known for bringing back some nostalgia in the pieces I collect, and also transporting people to the times when their favorite bands were rocking out. I gave myself the name “Therocknrollstylist” and it became the handle for my Instagram. I am proud that I can help men feel more confident in their body, with clothing that accentuates it. I know that we talk a lot about women and body image, but not as much as men’s. Since starting this small business, I have been learning more about how men feel about their bodies and how it affects their fashion choices. What sets me apart from others is that I am offering a special one on one service that is great for anyone on-the-go, I work with a variety of budgets, and offer a fun experience, better than going to shop by yourself at the mall! I not only offer styling services with vintage clothing from my collection, but also offer services to help my patrons find some great new clothing, in their style and budget. I offer styling services for photoshoots, film, music videos, and more!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future include having a rad studio in Los Angeles or Long Beach, so I can have my patrons shop my collection, have on-site tailoring services, and image/creative consulting services onsite. I am looking forward to growing more as a business, to be able to give back to the community, and also for traveling more with my services. I am plan on looking into the possibility of working with a partner, and take this small business even further. I plan on adding package services that also include a variety of local photographers and hairstylists to work with.

  • Styling services starting at $70 an hour
  • Styling/Personal shopping packages starting at $400
