Meet Bayan Sardari of Order Disruption in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bayan Sardari.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bayan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
And I am from Iran. I currently live in Los Angeles where I work as stylist and artist in ORDER Production. I also have my own fashion label. I was always interested in creative productions since I was in Iran. So in 2013, I applied to study fashion design at SCAD and moved to Atlanta, GA. It was during my study there that I had some collaborative film projects and they won several awards. During my Master’s degree of Fashion design at SCAD, I did five different collections and all of them got great exposure by being selected in awards like silver of avant-garde at IDA and mentioned in publications like Vogue mx and Atlanta Magazine, print issue. After Graduation, I moved to LA to find jobs in fashion. But a friend of a friend who is a film director referred me to their stylist. And I started working on tv ads and music productions. Now I’m working at ORDER Production LLC, where we do all kind creative projects.

Has it been a smooth road?
Well, for me it was more of a roller coaster ride. But when I look back, I feel so lucky, because of people that I work with and projects that I was involved in. When I just graduated as fashion designer, I had several clients from all over the world who wanted to buy my pieces. I actually have a client who bought two jackets from my Poetic of Movement collection as soon as she tried them on. So when I was applying for jobs, I expected everyone to say something like wow! I love your work. Would you come work with us? But the reality was no one had job description for kind of work I was doing as a fashion designer. All my fashion collections are sculptural and artistic. The process of trying to get job as a fashion designer, so I be able to pay my bills and develop my own business was so exhausting and with no result. So, I shifted my focus to styling and art direction for Advertising and film. The agency that I’m working at, ORDER Production LLC, is a very hands on team with emphasis on quality and creativity at the same time.

Please tell us about Order Disruption.
Our Company, ORDER Production is specialized in AD contents, Campaigns, tv ads, branded content, photography and branding. In industry, what is usually common is that there are advertising companies who work with clients, plan the ad campaign and branding. Then they contract production houses to make the Video, photography or animation part of the project. But Our founding members at ORDER are creative director and Art director from advertising industry who are also doing production part of project in house. What makes ORDER unique is doing high-quality work in a shorter amount of time.

As I am a fashion designer, I am fully responsible for styling of projects. But I have my own fashion studio, So we do fashion films as well. I am really proud of the quality of our work in all projects. And what unite us is the common emphasis on creativity and craftsmanship.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
When it comes to fashion, biggest concern is sustainability. This fast fashion trend which started since 2000’s, caused a lot of damages like workforce and fiber plantation sites exploitation. So a lot of people in fashion believe that shifting customer’s mindset from many clothes for short period of time to some quality pieces for longer is really needed. There are a lot of programs focusing on raising awareness about this issue.

But about advertising, the main goal is helping client to sell more. being aware of trend is important because it reveals customer’s decision making process and priorities. We could talk about current or past trends better. Because we never know what may happen in future that changes perspective and values in our societies. For example, we see that social media created new concepts of sharing experiences. So many customers try to be involved in experience that they could share on their social media. It shifted branding campaigns from finely polished ADs in magazines for example, to creating pop up shops, collaboration with artists, creative boots and like that. So customers go there and take beautiful pictures or videos to share. It is called creating branded experience. No call to action or purchase is involved in this kind of advertising. I think I heard somewhere it’s called unbranding campaign.

  • My Fashion pieces are made to measure. so the prices are based on final quote. but it starts from $6,000.
