Meet Baturhan Corabatir of Simply The Cupcake Store

Today we’d like to introduce you to Baturhan Corabatir.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I studied Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Yeditepe University located in Istanbul, Turkey. I was working in fine dining restaurants all around Europe as well as 3 Michelin starred restaurant. I came to the States in 2014 to work for a Celebrity Chef who has a restaurant in Dana Point, Orange County. I ended my cooking career and found my self as a cupcake store owner in Mission Viejo… I took over this existing business which is called The Cupcake Store and started our new name/brand as Simply The Cupcake Store with a slogan which is “Lickalicious”. Now we are opening up our 2nd location at The Shops at Mission Mall and starting a new business style in a cart which will be selling bite-size products… We are specialized in custom cakes and wedding cakes. We do also offer catering for small or big events… Our cakes are baked fresh in our store and our recipes are pretty balanced with flavors also they are light and super moist… We do offer several different types of buttercreams like light to old fashion, Oreo to caramel, peanut to raspberry, and as well as special requests like Dulce de leche buttercream or any special requests…

Has it been a smooth road?
It wasn’t really smooth in my first months… There were a lot of things to change and it took a long time to step up.However, everyday, my team and I see that we are growing with happy families and lots of smiles… Its super fun to work with lots of crazy custom cake ideas…

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Simply The Cupcake Store – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My style of business is “Owner runs the business”. This is where everything starts for us! Most of our customers know my name and it’s not. We do custom cakes, like fondant wrapped cakes with characters on them… We are a custom cake shop that’s what I like to call… The difference from other companies are our cakes are more moist and more light rather than dense cake recipes… We do pay attention to every single detail…
