Meet Ava Johanna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ava Johanna.

Ava, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After suffering from severe chronic migraines and impaired vision from stress at my corporate job, I went out on a limb to pursue a career as a yoga teacher and wellness blogger. I had seen the impact of stress on myself and knew that I wasn’t the only one caught up in the “work hard, play hard” mentality, so I began a path to unravel what is such a common theme in our society.

I became a yoga, meditation and breathwork teacher with a focus on modernizing the practices and making them accessible to the masses through classes, workshops, and events. Knowing that my teaching was limited in reaching a larger global audience, I began my podcast, The Alchemized Life, to connect thought leaders with the public and make wellness an inclusive experience.

Today, in addition to my podcast and in-person events, I mentor fresh faces in the wellness industry and support them in their brand development, growth, and discovery of their authentic voice.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a wild road of trial and error, but I’ve found that along the way the times that have been most challenging were hints of me diverting from my true path and purpose.

Every time I hit a speed bump, it was an opportunity for reflection and redirection rather than something that was going to knock me down. There have been many times my mind and fear has almost gotten the best of me, but through my meditation and yoga practice, I’ve done the work to develop the awareness around fear and now mentor other women to do the same.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
All the work I do, whether it be in yoga classes, on the podcast, or in my mentorship program is focused on empowering others to step into their own light. I truly believe in inclusivity and the development of leaders and make that my primary focus with my actions as a teacher, mentor, and speaker. Whether you take a class with me, attend an event, or listen to the podcast, I am constantly giving you the tools to find strength and confidence within and awaken to the true power we all hold.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Right now, I am focusing on creating and being apart of in-person experiences and opportunities that build a community around wellness and these transformational tools. I’m honored to be teaching meditation and breathwork for ROOTED Beings in Manhattan Beach every Friday and always welcome any level of practitioner to come take a class and get a taste of the mindfulness tools that have changed my life!
