Meet Ashlynn Cheung of AshlynnEvents in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlynn Cheung.

Ashlynn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had an eye for design and planning when I was a little girl, I just never knew what it was until now. Growing up I was a very creative person and I’ve always loved weddings and how beautiful everything would turn out, and my favorite movie growing up was The Wedding Planner with Jennifer Lopez. When I was little I had taken art classes for six years, piano lessons for five years, and was in a dance class for four years. I was always doing something creative or artistic. In high school, I started to plan little get togethers at school or outside of school. Then I started to redesign my room and living room for my house, I started thinking to myself maybe I want to be an Interior Designer when I get out of high school, for 4 years of high school I only focused on being an Interior Designer and what schools I wanted to apply for. While researching different school I came upon FIDM. A school designed for all designers from A-Z, it was like a dream, I had gone for an informational meeting and I fell in love with the school but I came to find out Interior Design was not I calling it was Visual and Communications for set designs and movies! After Graduated high school I started to look into Visual and Communications, I started taking classes at Pasadena City College towards my major but never seemed to enjoy it as much as I imagined. A lot of my friends kept telling me why don’t you become a party planner or wedding planner, I took that in consideration but never really looked into it but I still wanted to try it out.

So I went on Instagram and researched many party planners and wedding planners as a can and I reached out to each of them to see if they had any internships available. Finally, after contacting many event/wedding companies or businesses, one company had a spot open and I had taken the internship right away, I was super excited about this new journey I was about to take. After interning for the company for the summer I had learned and gained so much and I loved doing what I did while I interned but I wanted more. At that point, I felt like I was not going to grow from staying with the internship. So I decided to start my own wedding/party planning and coordination business and named it AshlynnEvents! Once I decided on starting my own business it felt amazing, that my goals and dreams are coming true!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can say yes and no, yes because every event and wedding I have done came out beautiful and successful and each year I can create and design different special events. No, because I have not done as many weddings I would like to do, and there were somethings I did not know about until the month of the wedding date or even the week off, but everything would play out correctly. I am always learning as a go!

Please tell us about your business.
My business is called AshlynnEvents, we are a wedding/event planning and coordinating business. We specialize in planning/coordinating weddings and events, we support and help guide our clients to what they are looking for. Our mission in our vision is “Making Dreams Into Reality”. As a team, we will create the most magical wedding or event for our clients. AshlynnEvents understands this is a special day, so your taste, style and personality should reflect on your wedding day or special event! With our passion for design, attention to details and exceptional service, you are sure to have the most magical and memorable wedding experience you could have ever dreamed of!

What I am most proud of is owning my own business and brand! It is awesome that I can make dreams into reality, making something pretty into beautiful, and building so many relationships with vendors and clients.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child would be going on trips with my family. We had made so many memories on each adventure we took.
