Meet Ashley Brignolle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Brignolle.

Ashley, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Born, raised and proud to be from nyc. I’m a goal oriented person who is consistently hustling to WIN! Ive been perusing a career in makeup since 2014 and man have a lot of things happened since then. I went from wanting to be a physical assistant to dropping out of college to follow my dream in makeup. I remember so vividly how I would skip class to be paid to do someones makeup or do makeup back stage for NYFW. So instead of wasting money and time I decided to put all my eggs into what interest me and drove me most. I took a certification class but I’m self taught. I watch YouTube videos before being an influencer was a thing and I learned my smokey eye techniques from old school Jacklyn hill and when I felt confident enough I went out there and applied to the leading makeup brand in the industry at the time. MAC COSMETICS. I ROCKED it. I learned quickly and gained all the costumer service experience I needed to go into the freelancing world. But transitioning wasn’t easy. Until I REALLY put all my efforts into freelancing I played it safe and bottled services in local nyc hot spots but I quickly learned plan b needs to add to plan a. I suddenly found myself not only carrying myself as a brand but actually being recognized by people on the street for my work they’ve seen on the internet. That actually is one of my favorite type of stop and chats lol Since then (5 years ago) Ive been 100% full time freelance.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was not easy transitioning from counter to freelance. I had to be my number one fan and really promote myself, make connections and hold them. Many things I’ve had to learn through trial and error. Learning how to be both a business woman and an artist is definitely my biggest struggle. when you take a makeup course they teach you the basics, how to book a bride, make a contract but they didn’t tell us you need to know how to be the marketing department, the accounting the department, and customer service. Being a makeup up artist is all about the experience and in order for your client to feel like she or he is receiving a good service it has to be professional through the whole process.

Please tell us about your business.
I’ve just been known as Ashley Brignolle LLC but now I’ve been blessed to have been able to build a growing team, TEAM BRIGNOLLE. We provide luxury at home salon services for convince and comfort. Collectively we are the BEST artists I know servicing a full range of clients including celebrities, top models, influencer, luxury brands, clothing companies and more. TEAM BRIGNOLLE connects the most talented artist (hair and makeup, soon to add nails) to the best clients who appreciate and celebrate talent. Unlike other on demand apps the artists get hirer pay and more opportunities to see their name in publications.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I never regret anything I just learn from my mistakes. I have learned that leaving things for tomorrow never get done and wanting to make things perfect is just an excuse. In order to know your business and really gain the experience you need to go out in the field and learn from the ones who have paved the way. I strongly suggest any entrepreneur to get into a community, learn from your peers and more experienced colleagues.,
