Meet ANTDAWG in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to ANTDAWG.

ANTDAWG, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got into producing when I was 17. I was djing at the time and I got to a point where I wanted to start spinning my own music. I saved up some money and went up to guitar center and bought myself some equipment and the rest was history.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. It’s not a profession where there’s like a blueprint on how to become successful. It took a lot of trial/error and dedication and I’m still working on it. I guess balancing making money and working on my craft has been the biggest struggle for me. On one hand you gotta eat, pay bills, etc. On the other hand you know if you work hard on your craft not only will it eventually pay off as well but you will be a lot happier getting paid to do what you love.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a producer first, then an engineer. I love both sides but producing is where I really excel. I’m proud to be known as a producer who can deliver whole projects. The singles are cool and all but producing a whole project is when you can really get to know the artist and really come up with an original sound. That’s my favorite part. What sets me apart is that I move with a purpose. I think a lot of people that come from where I come from don’t think they can make it out pursuing a career in music and I just wanna show them that it is possible to chase your dreams and become successful.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not much of a believer in “luck” because I believe everyone puts themselves in “good luck” or “bad luck” situations. I myself have had a lot of both. It all depends on how you look at the situation in my opinion.
