Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Quach.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always knew I wanted to do something creative but could never pinpoint my exact career path. It was only until after I left my full-time job to move to Italy that I was able to focus more on what I could pursue independently. So, between planning my own wedding, designing all the stationery for it, and starting a new life in another country, it became the perfect time to start my own business designing wedding invitations.
It wasn’t long before I realized designing wedding invitations was only the tip of the iceberg. I wanted to follow my clients through all their special milestones and soon expanded my product line to include other special events like baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, and more. Another huge turning point for me was when I got signed to a publisher and began to design wall décor to be sold at major retailers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Is it ever a smooth road? I don’t believe any career endeavor is ever smooth at the beginning, middle, or end because you are constantly challenged to establish yourself, improve where you can, and continuously come up with new ideas. The beginning was a huge struggle because I was competing with every other design company online and needed to find ways to be noticed and stay up to date with the latest trends. Joining the Etsy community really helped my small business and also allowed me to find other people just as passionate about their craft as I am.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the La Design Boutique story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a one-stop shop for everyone’s graphic design needs. It’s amazing how many design needs you may need in your lifetime. From celebrating your engagement, getting married, having kids, buying a house, decorating your home, and celebrating birthdays to other highlights in your life, I can design anything for all these milestones.
I am most known for my inspirational wall décor and custom birthday party designs. I pride myself with having the ability and time to give each of my clients the individual attention they need. I think my customer service is definitely what sets me apart from others. I work really hard to make sure my clients are completely satisfied.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I honestly can’t say good or bad luck has directly affected my life and business. I believe that if you work hard for something and really put your heart into it, you will get results.
Sometimes those results will be favorable and seem like “luck,” but I believe that it is because I made certain decisions and chose paths that have lead me down a better road.
When things don’t go my way, rather than thinking I have “bad luck,” I take it as a lesson to improve and learn from my mistakes. We live in a tough world and allowing ourselves to believe that we may have “bad luck” will be a constant battle.
All in all, I prefer to look at every good or bad experience I’ve had in my life, and believe that they have made me the person I am today. I can say that I do feel extremely lucky and grateful to be where I am today, doing what I love and inspiring others.
