Meet Michael Bejarano, Danny and Carmen Samaniego of Angelenos’ Wood Fired Pizza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Bejarano, Danny and Carmen Samaniego.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michael, Danny and Carmen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We are a couple of middle-aged dads with an entrepreneurial spirit and a killer pizza pie. Both native to Los Angeles, passionate about life, and full of personality. Supported by our talented (and wise) wives, we joined forces to create Angelenos’ Wood Fired Pizza. Our secret weapon, Danny’s wife Chef Carmen. She brings 15 years of cooking experience to the table. Our pizza dreams have been ruminating for about two years, but only recently we opened our first pop-up. The past six months have been all sacrifice and sweat to get Angelenos’ up and running. The business works because our strengths complement each other, and at the end of the day we manage to laugh ourselves out of the chaos.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Everything!! We started from scratch. Purchasing the oven, putting together the pop-up station, to finding the perfect location, and creating a delicious pizza that can be made roadside. Logistically this has been super challenging, but with each obstacle we overcome we share in the feeling of accomplishment. That sense of accomplishment motivates us to keep going and grow this dream we envisioned years back. It’s truly exciting, and we really feel so blessed to be working together on this project together.

Please tell us about Angelenos’ Wood Fired Pizza.
We do wood fired pizza curbside and cater special events. Our pies are hand-made, gourmet street food. We use a wood fired oven to serve piping hot individualized pizzas in a matter of minutes. Our toppings are quality and always fresh. Using ingredients like basil, truffle oil, and fresh grated Parmesan set us apart. Chef Carmen makes our marinara and packs it with a punch of flavor that compliments the wood fired crust. We use almond wood in the over for the perfect sweet-smokey flavor. We take no shortcuts and are very proud of what we serve. The Highland Park neighborhood has treated us well and we enjoy being a part of the community.
