Meet Andy Shah of Andy Shah Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Shah.

Andy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ever since I was young, I was fascinated with photography and visual images. Around 10 years ago, I decided to convert my passion into a business. Initially, I started off with fashion photography and slowly moved into the wedding and engagement industry. I landed my first client came through as a referral from a friend who is a videographer. Most of my business has come through referrals. I also now focus on developing a social media presence, keeping my website updated and exhibiting at bridal shows.

I am also a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. I also hold memberships with Professional Photographer of America (PPA) and Wedding Photography Association (WPPI). I am constantly improving my skills through seminars and workshops.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Marketing has always been a challenge, especially with the wedding photography industry being very competitive. Otherwise, it’s been a relatively smooth road because of the wonderful and appreciative clients we have had over the years.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Andy Shah Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Andy Shah Photography is a professional wedding, engagement, lifestyle and fashion photography company.

I have covered more than 150 events in the past decade and am highly experienced in weddings and engagements from all different cultures including, Hindu, Muslim and Christian ceremonies. From simple modern weddings to vibrant traditional weddings, my specialty lays in those moments when human emotions are the strongest; when the groom’s procession comes dancing in to marry the bride to the bride’s final moments with her Mom and Dad.

My fashion portfolio includes international South Asian designers such as Shyamal and Bhumika as well as U.S.-based Manshaa and Prathaa Designs. My passion also leads me to give back to the community with fashion photography for charitable causes.

What sets me apart from others is that I am always the main photographer for all of my bookings. There is a personalized and custom experience with each bride and groom that I work with it. I am not a cookie-cutter photographer.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For each wedding and engagement client, I am working on creating an exceptional customer service experience. We’re working on quicker inquiry response times, making sure the bride and groom voice their photography preferences before their big day and delivering images within 3 weeks.
