Meet Andrea Walker of The Bacon Magazine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Walker.

Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started The Bacon Magazine in 2021 to highlight the rise of Black Women in business who bring home the bacon.

As a digital marketing expert, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing thousands of Black Women media ready with products and services but very little media coverage, and I decided to change that.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a publication takes a lot of time and focus. Fortunately, it’s been a smooth road, only because I have a stellar network of Black women in business from being an online coach and digital marketing expert.

I kick-started this magazine and the first issue using the women around me. I already knew of powerful women who deserved the spotlight, so I gave it to them, and it’s been a wonderful experience so far.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Bacon Magazine is a publication dedicated to Black Women in business who bring home the bacon.

We are located in Los Angeles, CA, and cover profile stories, small businesses, and entrepreneurs in the US.

Our Sizzle Blog covers lifestyle and culture, career and money, business, and resources for Black Women to learn and grow their businesses.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
If you come into every room with a student’s mindset, you will learn something from everyone.

I’m open to learning more about my community, industry, and every layer of the business. That makes me hungry for information and knowledge. I’ve gotten further along being a CEO who listens to the people on the frontline instead of telling everyone how I think it should go from a boardroom point of view.

Humility opens doors that talent and skill cannot.

Humility is the lesson, always.
