Meet Anastasiya Kot of Edge VR Studios in West Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasiya Kot.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Belarus, Eastern Europe. I got my Masters in Finance and Banking in 2011 and bake then I would have never imagined that I would run my own business in sunny Los Angeles, California.

After the bank job felt somewhat stale, I moved to Montreal. After a year of odd jobs like working at a pharmacy or a video game studio the opportunity presented itself to move to San Francisco. So I said goodbye to the snow and baguettes and hopped on a plane to California. I was considering new avenues of employment and something that I felt interested in were beautifully designed spaces. And that’s where Edge VR took its first steps.

I was researching better ways to do design and visualization and that’s when I was introduced to VR and Realtime Graphics applications by my future co-founder and it all just clicked. Why not take a tour of your future home before you spend thousands or millions of dollars building it? And even before that, utilizing real time technology provides us bigger production benefits allowing us to do visualization, revisions and designs at a faster rate than our competitors.

It’s a fun intersection of industries because essentially, we are borrowing technology developed for video games and bringing it to a wider market. Which also allows us to have unique and comparatively inexpensive features like interactive tours, immersive virtual panoramas, videos and full on Virtual Reality presence sessions.

So if you want to you can actually walk through your future space, open and close doors, turn on the lights on and off, change the time of day, even turn on the TV. All of these options go a long way towards building immersion and confidence towards the spaces our clients are building.

That’s why right now we decided to focus on providing the same immersive opportunities to more people working in the creative industries in Los Angeles. We have the pleasure of working with some of the best designers and architects to help bring their visions into this new medium.

We are still reasonably small. Which is why prefer to think of ourselves as a Boutique visualization studio. Being this size allows us to always give the best service to our clients, pamper them with attention and surprise them where we can. We like making people happy with our work.

The future has arrived. It’s here, it cost-effective and easy with the help of our amazing specialists. And all we want to do is to take everyone else on a trip to the future with us.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When we’ve just started, we quickly understood that developments in Virtual Reality will change the way we visualize environments. And we could see all that potential it offers to Architecture Industry. Back than we thought that everybody would see what we saw. But the truth is to have the greatest idea ever is not enough. The main challenge is that to understand the concept of virtual reality, you need to try it – put on VR glasses and see the 3D world come to life. People don’t know what it is and what benefits you can get from it. Educating people about our product is the most challenging thing we’ve faced and we are still facing it. We are pushing boundaries of 3D visualization industry but we are also working on changing perception of architectural design and visualization.

Please tell us about Edge VR Studios.
Our company is Edge VR Studios. We are a Visualization and Design Boutique. We specialize in visualization for all architectural and design industries with a focus on customer experience, beauty and of course cutting-edge technology. Including Virtual Reality. By blending our expertise and artistry with the most advanced technologies we can create captivating visual stories for our clients to get their message across. We are all big architecture and design geeks here so we always appreciate and get excited about the great work our clients do. The challenge for us is nothing short of inspirational.

Edge VR Studios was established in Los Angeles in 2014. Since then we conducted projects both in USA and Easter Europe. We love to make our clients happy and we know how to satisfy most sophisticated clientele all over the world.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Success for us is to continue to strive for excellence in visualization and to push the boundaries of technology and adoption. We know what the future is going to be like. And with every person for whom it just ‘clicks’ when they use our services we know we’ve done something right.

Innovation doesn’t happen in a day. And all futuristic technologies are around for a while before they find mass adoption. We just need to find the right way to apply them. And this is what we do best.

We’ll know we’ve done it right when everyone in Los Angeles expects their design and visualization to be beautiful, interactive and profoundly immersive through portable and affordable virtual presence devices.
