Meet Amisha Patel of Tree of Life in West LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amisha Patel.

Amisha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
A year ago, I moved to Los Angeles from Rhode Island. Back in RI, I was an English Professor and the owner of a consulting company, Tree of Life Consulting ( As a professor, I was a little too enthusiastic about what we were studying and I think the students thought that was kind of funny. As a business and success coach, though, my love of ideas was just the right fit. Entrepreneurs are just as passionate as I am, and the feeling of building something great together felt exhilarating. I realized that it was time for me to finish my work in academia and roll up my sleeves to develop my business.

Meanwhile, I was going through some challenges. I’d had a tough breakup, a couple health scares, and maybe even a sort of “dark night of the soul”, where one thing after another seemed to be trying to knock me down. Thanks to my knowledge of the life journey, a passion for my work and the support of friends and family, I was strong enough to see possibilities and to start fresh. That fresh start, to me, was relocation to Los Angeles, and the full time work through my company, which has now been a resource for all kinds of awesome LA-ers, including actors, producers, business owners, and public figures.

Originally, Tree of Life was born of my desire to integrate wisdom teachings, philosophy, intuition, business, success strategies, and innovation into one simple perspective. My clients find the perspective easy and relatable and they see progress quickly. If we do the work right, our appointments feel more like a love-fest than like a strategy session. Their change happens at the heart level, even while it creates rapid improvements in life and business. That’s why I think of it as transformational.

Nowadays, I love catching people mid-career and helping them find new ways to succeed. We work on career AND personal life, as I believe the two are interrelated. Now, that I’ve worked with over 600 clients, the success teachings have become very clear to me and I’ve found new methods of offering them. For one, many of my clients love to participate in a group coaching program called EVOLVE. This is ten weeks of big love and big change. For another, I am conceptualizing stories (screenplays) that make my teachings vivid, meaningful, and accessible to a wide audience. Fingers crossed, the first one will be sold very soon. Some awesome people have shown interest and I can’t wait to see it on the big screen!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My great advantage is that I’ve had a loving community around me, whether it’s for moral support or whether I needed advice. The best part of my journey has to do with my absolute love for my clients. I am convinced I’ve worked with the most incredible people on the planet. They have made every second a joy.

My struggles in business had to do with inventing something that doesn’t really exist. Yes, there are consultants and coaches, but which of them were just as obsessed with Plato as I was, or just as determined to teach intuition as a successful practice? I was inventing my work organically based on a love of truth and a love of seeing others succeed. I still don’t have an elevator pitch.

My other struggle had to do with self-doubt. Sometimes, I thought I needed something I didn’t have, and that was always a mistake. In the end, it’s my unconventional approach that’s made me valuable to my clients. They didn’t need me to be like everyone else after all, and it did take me several years to learn that.

Please tell us about Tree of Life.
Tree of Life is a resource for business and personal growth, primarily through one on one coaching services, and more recently, through group events. (In the near future, we’ll even have some online products.)

For entrepreneurs, the programs are like a golden ticket; they unearth so much hidden potential – everything from profits to happiness to recognition.

Executive clients love the philosophical approach and they become more authentic leaders.

Clients that connect for personal growth find that the negative situations in their life start to lift; they begin to feel empowered and happy.

It really is amazing to watch. No one goes through the programs without leaving happier and more at peace. I think this is so cool! The world is stressful enough; I want to be someone that takes stress off peoples’ shoulders and makes the work of success easy and happy.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started with a blog, ten or twelve years ago. I love the idea of giving out lots of information in an easy way. I was too shy to do this, but I could have collected an entire library of advice by now.
