Meet Amir Hazrati of L.I.T. Group in Van Nuys

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amir Hazrati.

Amir, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After working in the tech start upfield from 2004-2013, I decided to take a break to pursue a career in real estate sales. After passing my real estate exam in 2014, I was approached about new investment opportunity with a lighting company. I decided to come on board part-time and was responsible for reporting and inventory organizing.

Throughout this process, I realized that there was a great deal of untapped potential that wasn’t being met in this industry. After a few conversations with the company owners, I took over the operations, and within four years, my strategic initiatives, restructuring and re-branded of this company resulted in increased sales by 10-fold. Then, in June 26th of 2018, I walked myself into the ER due to severe chest pains not realizing that was a moment that would change the course of my life. On June 27th, I was rushed to the ICU and I went through an emergency open heart surgery due to an aortic aneurysm. The cardiologist and heart surgeon both told me I was lucky to have even had a chance of being operated on, most who develop an aortic aneurysm find out too late and never make to the operating room. Following the surgery, I had a few months of recovery during which I had plenty of time to think about what I wanted out of life and career. In September 2018, I decided to part ways with the company I had rebuilt from ground up, and on October 10, 2018 L.I.T. Group was founded and a new career path was established.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been, but I don’t believe in smooth sailing. I think that no matter your path in life there are challenges that arise, and those challenges are what make the experience unique. It’s the challenges that bring out the best in us and ultimately make us stronger.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with L.I.T. Group – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
At L.I.T. Group our mission is to provide an innovative and unique, custom lighting solution for your space which is inspired by both design and mood. An aspect of interior design which is often overlooked, lighting impacts everything from proper illumination to showcase a given space and its aesthetic to how the space makes you feel. Shortly after establishing L.I.T. Group, I partnered with Hima Rezai, a locally established and seasoned luxury real estate developer of over 15 years. Together, we were able to really pinpoint the weaknesses and strengths where lighting could stand to improve any project. We are essentially a boutique lighting solution group.

I am proud to say that in less than two years, we have successfully completed multiple projects in the most sought-after neighborhoods in Los Angeles including Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Bel Air, Downtown high rises, Westwood and more. We have designed and structured custom fixtures for clients all over the country. Over this time, we have curated a loyal clientele that trusts us and our vision to uniquely illuminate their projects taking them to the next level.

What makes us unique is the approach to lighting solutions, we look at a space or set of plans and we reimagine it with the light on. We think about how a specific space should feel, and we move forward with designing from there.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that our city is a melting pot and it brings so many cultures together in one place, it naturally creates this competition that we all step up for. Also the food! We have some of the most amazing food from all over the world here in LA. My least favorite part of LA is the traffic and transportation. It takes hours to drive a 20-minute route and I think that creates a huge hurdle in growth for business and other personal opportunities.
