Meet Amiah Nicks of ATTP Dance Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amiah Nicks.

Amiah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I became fascinated with my mom’s life of being a pole dancer. As I got older, I decided to further explore the art of pole because of her. I purchased my first pole and it put it in my bedroom in December of 2011. I continued to teach myself and master what is now my gift of pole fitness. In February of 2012, I officially opened the first pole fitness studio in southeast Philadelphia.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No road you travel down is ever smooth. Expect to have moments bring discomfort, well as moments that bring comfort what you do in whatever your venture may be. Going up the stairs, you don’t know what angel may come across in the road, so I’ve always reassured myself in keeping my bridges intact and never letting them get burned.

Please tell us about ATTP Dance Studio.
I am a master pole instructor. I’ve traveled around the US teaching clients of all backgrounds the art and sport of pole. I’ve found myself to be able to teach virtual sessions before COVID and have had the pleasure of teaching women from Florida to Alaska. I also travel world teaching pole as well. With my Europe tour being on hold until COVID calms down, but will be happening in another year or so. Anyone that has ever graced me with the ability to teach them will always say my energy, spirit, patience, and confidence is one of my most notable traits.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up was hard. My life wasn’t the conventional fairytale, but it taught me how I knew I didn’t want my kid’s future to be. I’ve grown from a childhood into the mother that shows the love, patience & compassion I would’ve loved to see continually as a child myself.

  • Virtual classes are $35
  • To travel there needs to be at least 15 students wanting to take classes
