Meet Amber Goldhammer, Artist in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Goldhammer.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amber. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in Portland, Oregon, I spent time with a very creative grandmother who instilled a love of art. We would spend hours exploring various artistic outlets, including painting, photography, sewing, and jewelry making. I also had a deep connection to performance art and became a gymnast for many years. I choreographed my own routines and became State Champion two years in a row.

Injuries forced her me to stop, but my creative expression continued, especially when painting and experimenting with various pigments, powders, and waxes, and utilizing various techniques to achieve textural interest.

My love of painting led me to Los Angeles, where I began collaborating with like-minded local artists and experimenting with various mediums and processes on canvas. Sometimes, utilizing the human figure as my subject, my figurative expressionist works are still favorites amongst world-wide collectors.

I studied under master artist and mentor, Rassouli, the founder of the Fusionart movement that aims to marry Eastern mysticism with Western art techniques. It is guided by a “fusion” of artistic expression from the heart, reflecting “what is felt, rather than what is observed.” Through this training, I paint with pure freedom and express my emotions and the energy around me through my paintings.

As love and joy are paramount emotions in one’s life, I created a stylistic and edgy street art series which incorporates “I Love You” writing throughout the paintings. They are at the core, abstract, yet the writing is a powerful meaning in a cool and hip, street graffiti way. This style has become my signature and has been featured worldwide through murals, galleries, art fairs and large collections.

Has it been a smooth road?
“The struggle is real” can be coined by just about everyone on the planet! Nothing comes easy. There are 100 no’s before one yes. But that one yes lights an unstoppable fire that takes you to new heights. Getting a strong support team was also crucial to my success.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Amber Goldhammer, Artist – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As a contemporary artist, I’m best known for my large-scale abstract paintings as well as my street art graffiti writing with the message of “I Love You”.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that I can put my feet in the ocean and 30 minutes later, have the most amazing dumplings in an underground restaurant in DTLA. I love that I live in a city that the world wants to see and explore. From palm trees to skid row. It’s all worth experiencing.
