Meet Amber Gaona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Gaona.

Amber, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved around a lot growing up but mainly grew up in LA County. I’m now a married mom of three. My oldest is 20 and middle is 13 and youngest is 5. So, yes, life is always been busy and has never stopped for me. I am a registered dental assistant for over 18 years but now I’ve been working helping my husband and his family at their restaurants.

So I do  a lot of traveling. Photography and hiking has been my escape and to destress. The beauty of nature that some may not see or may never be able to is what I wanna bring to their eyes. Even in your own neighborhood that isn’t always glamorized. The beauty lies all around us. If you take a closer look. I like to capture what you is around the corner of your block or what is on that train on that road you have to drive everyday and dread it. There is beauty everywhere and God has given us this to slow down and count your blessings and be thankful regardless of what we are all going through. My son Izayah was a big inspiration for me to actually start my own page his vision and what his eye captures of our city of angels is truly inspiring.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Everyone has issues but for me leaving my job to help my husband at both lily’s tacos was the hardest thing for me to do. Knowing I’ve worked my whole life since I was 17 and I’m 38 now, it’s really hard to swallow. Growing up all I knew was to be an independent woman. But honestly it was for the greater good. I’ve been able to help out both restaurants with their social media and taking all the photos of all the delicious food dishes. So I’ve been able to tap into that of food media too which is cool.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I do my photography for the art. I love nature and landscapes but you can also see I love the simple things you might just find in your front yard. Portraits are what I really wanna want to capture more of. But I have no limit! I love it all! I’m happy that I can shoot anywhere I’m at even at the drive-thru at McDonald’s. It’s not about getting that shot everyone has but about seeing what’s right in front of you. I believe that’s what sets me apart of everyone else.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m going to continue my photography and keep capturing all the places that never looked so beautiful before but do now. As I commute from city to city and continue helping my family out at the restaurants and capturing that killer Mexican food! I do have my first wedding photoshoot this July so that’s pretty exciting.
