Meet Amani McGregor of Luxury House Search in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amani McGregor.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amani. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a California native, born in Oakland, California and raised in Bakersfield, California. Yes, I did say Bakersfield. I knew since I was young that I wanted to be in Los Angeles, it was only a matter of time. I moved to DTLA, the heart of Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue a career in the Fashion Industry. I graduated with a degree in Merchandise Product Development from FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) in 2014. After an introduction into the fashion industry where I collaborated with popular brands and corporations on developing the latest trends for their stores, I found my true passion in luxury real estate. Luxury real estate has allowed me to bring my love for design, marketing, and lifestyle into the luxury real estate market and I’ve been involved in Real Estate since 2015.

I love everything about real estate. I love the properties, the clients, the lifestyle and the freedom it can provide by being a business owner. Los Angeles is a diverse melting pot where people from all over the world travel to live here to make their dreams come true. LA is a city that is about opportunity, creativity, culture and I wouldn’t sell real estate anywhere else. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No… Definitely not, and that has made the successes I’ve had that much sweeter! In the beginning of my career, I had a tough time realizing my value as a real estate agent and how to explain to my clients what I can offer and how to differentiate myself from other real estate agents and brands. Not only did I have to learn about the industry and market, but I had to learn how to best serve them and market their property or help them find the perfect home for them based on their budgets, goals, tastes, and lifestyles.

I quickly learned that all sales jobs require a certain level of expertise and confidence. If you aren’t familiar with your craft, you will not be able to work to your full potential. It took me over 2,000 cold calls, 1,000 door knocks, 50 networking events before I was able to build my confidence where it is today. As a business owner and entrepreneur, you will always be learning and growing and I’ve learned to embrace my challenges as opportunities for me to grow as a businesswoman – this mindset has helped me in all areas of my life.

Having a positive mindset is extremely important in life and especially as an entrepreneur. My favorite quote by Charles Swindoll is “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” Real estate is such a fast-paced field and Los Angeles is one of the largest markets in the U.S. As a business owner, I’m building my business while wearing a lot of hats and I’ve realized it’s okay to make mistakes and grow. I’ve learned to “not be afraid of failing, just of standing still.”- which I believe is just a good philosophy for life.

We not only track the market data and pricing but we have intimate relationships with clients, active agents in the area as well as strategic partners such as architects, builders, interior designers, general contractors, lenders, stagers, and investors.

I founded Luxury House Search in 2017 hoping to help people identify the latest trends, materials, and markets within Los Angeles regarding luxury real estate. What is “success” or “successful” for you?
This is a great quote that sums up how I view of success. “Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming,” John Wooden. I just believe I’m only successful if I’m happy with my effort and can live with the result and so I set a higher standard for myself in whatever I’m pursuing.
