Meet Amanda Gomez of Ace Transformation Personal Training in Irvine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Gomez.

Amanda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love for fitness started over two years ago. I got a job as an office assistant at a gym called Next Level Fitness in Irvine. Shortly after getting the job I started training with a personal trainer at the gym. I had always been “skinny” and in my teen years could get away with eating pretty much whatever my heart desired and never had to pay the repercussions for that. When I turned 18 I started to notice that things had changed. If I went to Burger King and ordered a Whopper I would be sporting what I jokingly called “a food baby” for the rest of the day. I also started noticing that parts of my body had begun to store fat especially in my thighs and stomach. I tried running on my own and doing workout videos but found it hard to keep motivation to keep going. When I started training with my trainer it was one of the hardest things I had ever done! The first two weeks I almost passed out numerous times & my body felt sore every single day. I would get out of bed, sore everywhere and think to myself “I see no results yet, why the hell am I putting myself through this?” But something inside me clicked and I realized that if I wanted true results and wanted to get in shape I would have to work for it day in and day out. After two months I began noticing results, I was starting to build up muscle and getting toned. Week after week I got stronger and stronger.

I now had the passion for fitness and I was determined to never give it up. After a year I realized that my love for fitness and getting myself in shape had reached a new level. I now had the desire to start helping other people reach their goals. In April 2012, I registered for classes to become a certified personal trainer. I received my certification and started training clients at Next Level Fitness with my training business Ace Transformation. I have trained men and women of all ages, body types, and my clients have seen amazing results!

At the beginning of 2013 I made it my goal to compete in a NPC bikini competition. I am happy to announce that I competed on May 24, 2014 and placed second in open bikini class F and 7th in novice bikini class D. I also competed on October 19, 2013 and placed fourth in novice bikini class F.

I love being a personal trainer. It’s a job I never dreamed I would get into by I am beyond thankful I did! I love helping out people who started out just like I did. Seeing my clients see results from their hard work is such an amazing feeling!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting this business definitely was not a walk in the park! When I first started I only had 1-3 clients and was charging barely anything just to get my name out there. I spent a lot of money on advertising/marketing so I found myself not seeing a profit the majority of my first two years. No one wanted to train with me because I didn’t have any proof that my training was working yet. Once the few clients that I had started seeing results I started posting their before and after pictures on social media and on my website. Once people saw their friends and family seeing results client referrals started flowing in and my business picked up a lot!

Ace Transformation Personal Training – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The training that I do focuses on muscle group at a time as opposed to training everything at once. I have found that this type of training makes muscles develop and tone a lot faster. I also like to incorporate elements of strongman workouts into my training. Strongman includes truck tire flips, sled pushes and pulls, battle ropes, sledge hammer hits and much more! These elements take training to a whole another level and challenge my clients to do things they never thought they would be able to do. It’s amazing!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far has been seeing one of my clients take the steps to become a trainer as well. I started training my client Emily about 2 years ago. Initially she came to me wanting to lose baby weight after she had her baby but once she started training it turned into a deeper goal. Emily loved the way she felt from training and loved the lifestyle change she had made. She then expressed an interest in wanting to start helping other people feel the same way she did by becoming a trainer. I started helping her stake the steps to become a trainer and after a few months she got certified and started her own business! Emily now works as a personal trainer at the same gym I am currently at. Seeing her help and train people just like I did for her is so awesome and I am beyond honored to have helped her get to where she is at now.
