Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Chambers.
Amanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve had a love for the arts and computer design for as long as I can remember. I always knew that I wanted a career in a creative industry. After graduating high school, I attended FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) where I majored in Graphic Design. Immediately after graduating in 2006, I was fortunate to land a job at an advertising agency. While the position was on the media planning side, not the creative side, I decided to take it and try to pursue whatever kind of freelance design work I could on the side. Anyone who has worked in advertising knows that it’s a 24/7 gig, so making time to squeeze in any kind of design work was challenging, to say the least. Fast forward to seven years later, I made the decision that I needed to get back to the creative side of things and take the leap to pursue my passion of graphic design.
After three years of freelance work and working other jobs, I felt it was time to transition to the next step and start my own business. I am now SO happy and proud to say that I am now two years into running my own full-time, design business.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but I truly believe that’s all part of the journey and is what keeps things new and exciting. The most difficult part was transitioning back to the creative side after seven years. While I was extremely fortunate to have had the education and experiences I received, there was still so much more work and research that needed to be done to get me where I wanted to be. There still is! I think any small business owner is constantly thinking of how to evolve and elevate their business to the next level.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Chambers Design Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
Chambers Design Studio is a graphic design studio specializing in custom stationery and creative branding for small businesses.
I believe that every client is unique and has their own story to tell. I love working with other designers and artists and helping them bring their brand vision to life. My goal for every client is to create a brand that makes them proud, confident and is consistent with their business.
Every time I complete project and see it come to life is a proud moment – whether it is launching a new website, receiving the final product package design or getting professional photos back from the bride showcasing invitations and hand-lettered signage.
