Meet Alison Robertson of She Creates in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison Robertson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up in New Jersey in a multi-generational home, I was always surrounded by a colorful group of people. Fascinated by people and wanting to know what made them tick, this was an ideal environment for me. I knew from an early age that I had an innate ability to read people. I have a very vivid memory in kindergarten emotionally knowing what my peers wanted. This ability dovetailed beautifully into my desire to be an actor. I once again got to jump in with a group of colorful people and figure out what makes them tick.

After moving from New Jersey to Los Angeles, I decided to dedicate my life to helping others, using my unique gifts to emotionally impact those around me and persuade them to see the best in themselves. While also continuing to work on television, I launched my personal development coaching practice in 2010, using my intuitive skills to help clients move from where they are in life to where they want to be.

As a motivational speaker, I have spoken at the SAG Conservatory, Universal and Global Entrepreneur workshops. As a straight-talking motivational speaker I don’t shy away from the truth.

Wanting to be able to bring my message to as many people as possible, I recently published my first book ENOUGHNESS: the simple truth to embracing YOU.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I started my business in 2010 my biggest obstacle was my own self-doubt. “Who am I to talk in front of a group of people? Why would anyone want to listen to me?” And as soon as I found my footing there, I jumped into writing the book and all those same self-doubts came flooding back. But this time they were stronger. I wasn’t just going to be speaking and the words then fading; I was putting my thoughts and feelings in black and white and they weren’t going to disappear. Ultimately I had to step into what I’d been teaching. Even though I was scared and unsure, I had to jump and trust the net would appear, coaching I’ve given more times than I can count. And on top of it all I was still dealing with children and my personal life. I did find the writing of the book to be very therapeutic. I found myself writing through my sorrow and self-doubt and was able to find happiness in myself and ultimate confidence.

She Creates – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
She Creates is a multi-faceted coaching and professional speaking business.

On the coaching side, we specialize in personal development- helping people master who they are, here and now, and how to get to the next phase. What sets us apart in this field is that we don’t have a one size fits all approach. Based on a client’s needs and desires, an individual program is created that is then fine-tuned to the client as we go along.

I think what I am most proud of with the coaching practice is our track record of success with our clients. They are people who have come in to do the work and really do see major change in their lives. And on a personal note, I’m very proud that when I work with people I find that they leave with more of themselves than me and are able to stand on their own. My services are used as the tool that they were meant to be not as a crutch.

As a motivational speaker my emotional IQ allows me to authentically connect with people even when meeting them for the first time. I am an interactive speaker, so I love getting feedback from the audience. I have been known to do some one on one coaching on the spot. Sometimes you just need to help clear some blocks so people can really take in the message you’re sharing. I currently have three programs that I can bring to people depending on what your company/seminar/workshop is looking for.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
So many successes, from clients to personal, but I’d have to say at this moment and time, my proudest moment is the launch of my first book. It really is the culmination of every aspect of myself.
