Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliky.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Aliky. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a child, I was always into hair and also things that revolved around the entertainment industry. When I moved to LA, I somehow combined the two and started off as a hairstylist to people in the music industry. My celebrity clientele came to me by word of mouth and by being the outgoing person that I am approaching artist telling them that I do hair. My passion for music grew deeper from being around it so often and I suddenly felt like the old me was missing. The old Aliky was entering talent shows and performing all over and I realized that’s what really made me happy; so I decided to try and rap. Still hustling doing hair as my main job, I am also an up and coming artist who now gets to performs often and I love it!
Has it been a smooth road?
The struggles that I face are not being able to invest as much time in music as I’d like because I have to work and make money to be able to pay for my studio time, show attire, photoshoots, etc. I’m also always torn between what to post on my social media, I’d go back and forth with my self on whether I should post hair or music. I had to come to the realization that I shouldn’t really give a fu*k about what I choose to post. People need to know the real me and this is it, I do hair and music.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Hair – I specialize in braids, locs, and hairstyling. As a Hair Stylist & Entrepreneur, I am most proud that I am able to work for myself and call the shots. I’m also very grateful that I have some of the coolest clients and have been introduced to sooo many opportunities and people that I could have only dreamed of connecting with. I feel what sets me apart from others is definitely my hustle, personality, and having built this clientele on my own with no agent/manager.
Music – I am a rapper from the Bay Area who is known for “Shutting it Down” when I perform. I am most proud that I haven’t gave up and continue hustling to build my brand and pursue a dream of mine. What sets me apart is my humble spirit and that I truly enjoy the art, since growing up performing was all I knew.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
