Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Schneider.
Alexis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up I was always encouraged to create. I used holidays and birthdays to really exercise my interest in creating. Not until I was older, I realized that it was a passion of mine that I can present to others in the form of beauty products. It began with family and friends and slowly but surely is progressing into my little community of babes. Inspired by childhood memories from the 90’s and 2000’s, I was able to create products based around the thought of being glamorous, extra, and not afraid to show it. Providing irresistible luxury products with a throwback vibe at an affordable price. My mission is to bring out the confidence in all my babes by giving them products that highlight each of their beautiful characteristics. Hopefully, the pride and joy I have from handcrafting products translates to my customers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course not. I have heard a lot of stories about the beginning stage of businesses. With that being said, I had no idea what I was doing. Although I had a specific goal, the difficulty derived in finding where to start. Like any business, you began to research products in the related category. With the research I found I was able to incorporate my own ideas and vision to provide a product with the best ingredients in the most aesthetic packaging. I take pride in knowing that I dreamt of my business and from the ground up I have shown that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. Now that I’ve got things going, my current struggle is balancing my work, business and personal life as full-time in the California Air National Guard and a part-time student. Managing my time and organization skills has allowed me to be on top of my game. I learn something new every day and strive to become better and I have gained so much appreciation for other small businesses as I know that it can get tough. I am so grateful for my family and supporters and blessed to continue to pursue this passion. I hope I can inspire others to take on what might seem impossible, knowing that with hard work, dedication, and support, you can do anything you put your mind to.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I chose handmade chemical free lip glosses in a variety of flavors that are clear, tinted, and/or pigmented. Offering affordable lip care products that not only magnifies your aesthetic but provide nourishment. Although lip gloss is my primary seller, I am planning to expand adding various accessories. This process will continue towards my end goal which is being a one-stop shop for cute essentials for all my babes. Being open-minded, I allow myself to be accessible through my Instagram page for comments and suggestions. Not only does this allow to express their feedback but also give them what they would like to see. This process will be a minor rebrand, but I am excited for what is ahead.
What were you like growing up?
Being the social butterfly growing up, I used my loving and personality to create lasting friendships. Although I was big into sports, I was big on pink, sparkly and over the top stuff. I showed that I can be multifaceted and not boxed into just one thing. I fell in love with DIY projects as early as 8 years old. I was always creating my rendition of “Hallmark Cards” which helped me express my creativity. I made them for every holiday birthday and special event, even adding my signature. This allowed me to be more personable and professional, in which, I still implement currently.
