Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Siegel.
Alexander, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve had a camera in my hand since I was eight years old. After graduating from Otis College of Art & Design in 2014, my passion for photography took hold while living in a rural town in Northern Idaho. Despite having studied Advertising, the abundance of natural beauty in Idaho provided the perfect opportunity to fall back in love with my hobby. In 2016, I returned to my hometown of Santa Barbara to take advantage of Southern California’s diverse creative opportunities.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of my greatest struggles was figuring out who I am as a photographer. Many people are instantly drawn to a specific area of photography and stick with it their whole life. Having not studied photography in school, I had very little direction, and therefore explored everything, making it difficult to realize who I am as a photographer.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
After returning from Idaho, I’ve explored all types of photography, from food to real estate, children & families to weddings and events. I discovered my love of fine art when I realized h0w much I enjoyed the process of printing, framing, and hanging my images. I want my images to lend a hand in creating a space, a mood, a feeling.
Fine art is just one part of my business. I am currently creating a wholesale distribution network where I sell ceramic tiles with my photographs on them as a set of coasters to various retail outlets. My plan is to reach local boutique stores, hotel gift shops, wineries, tasting rooms, and wedding planners.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Los Angeles is a perfect place for anyone in the creative field. It is simply a city full of creatives and entrepreneurs, what else could you ask for?
