Meet Alex Foxman of PriveMD, National ACO, Mobile Physician Associates, and Beverly Hills Institute

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Foxman.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been practicing Internal Medicine and Preventive Care since 2003. I love practicing and taking care of patients but was frustrated early with the problems in our healthcare system. I wanted to fix them.

Over the span of 10 years, I have started several successful and innovative medical practice models including Mobile Physician Associates (www.mymobilephysician.com), a completely mobile group medical practice serving the needs of the homebound, frail elderly and disabled populations of Southern California.; PriveMD (www.PriveMD.com) an “Uber” for doctors that harnesses technology to schedule both in home and telehealth medical visits. These practice models have shown a significant improvement in patient quality of care with double-digit reductions in overall medical costs to payers.

I am currently the President and Medical Director of the National ACO, LLC, a physician-owned and governed Next Generation Model ACO, located in Beverly Hills, California with over 360 contracted physician practices, 1100 preferred providers and 32,000 patients in California, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

As a board-certified physician, I continue to impact medicine by championing as Co-founder of National ACO, which is advancing value-based care. Our healthcare system is fragmented and broken. My goal is to help fix this on a local and national scale.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth on my journey to help make changes from volume (the more patients a doctor see’s and more procedure’s performed, the more the doctor gets paid) to value-based care (the healthier the doctor keeps the patient, the higher the financial reward for the doctor). Changing the medical culture is very challenging, slow, BUT not impossible.

Being a pioneer at the forefront of the changes in our healthcare system can be frustrating, but also very rewarding when you can see and measure the positive changes to both patient and physicians. Positive change is happening in healthcare and I am very excited and proud to be part of this change.

Please tell us about PriveMD, National ACO, Mobile Physician Associates, Beverly Hills Institute.
I have several medical businesses that all revolve around providing innovative ways to provide patients with value-based medical services.

PriveMD (www.PriveMD.com) – A “Uber for doctors” that allows medical providers to schedule and see patients in their home or via telehealth on their schedule and specifications. We have scheduled over 9600 visits to date in our California market alone.

Mobile Physician Associates (www.mymobilephysician.com) – A completely mobile group medical practice providing the frail, elderly and disabled population of Los Angeles chronic disease management and preventive health services in the home. These services have significantly reduced the need for unnecessary ER visits, hospitalizations or re-hospitalizations.

National ACO (www.nacomso.com)- As only 1 of 51 Next Generation Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) in the country, we assist community-based physicians to rapidly move from volume to Value-based care.

Beverly Hills Institute (www.bhinstitute.com) – A private internal medicine and preventive care medical practice located in the heart of Beverly Hills. We provide all services in-house with a patient-centric approach. We serve not only patients of the local community, but also patients who visit from all over the nation and world for medical care and second opinions.
