Meet Alejandro Suniga of Jandro in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Suniga.

Alejandro, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. Came out to LA when I was 18 a few days after my graduation and party. Worked restaurant jobs to stay afloat until my music took off. I’m now 22 and have done five national tours around the US and Canada and have over 2 million views collectively on YouTube.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been VERY far from a smooth road! I came out here by myself when I was 18 with just my graduation money, my car, and a puppy my girlfriend gave me before I left so I had a friend and wasn’t alone. At 18, I signed a management contract and had music that was stolen from me that did very well with another artist that it was given to. I’ve had to figure out lawyer bills to get myself out of paperwork that I was young and foolish for signing, on top of rent, food, and car payments. The music industry can be a very dirty place if you’re not strong enough to overcome.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Well, I make music. Mainly hip hop and RNB. I pride myself in being unique compared to my competition of “cool” “braggadocios” artists. I am and have been the type of artist that no matter what type of instrumental I am put on I will make it a great song to the listener. I’ve done 5 US/CANADA tours, and quadrupled my fans doing so. Best part is I’m only getting started and know I have way more to learn.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Staying true to who you are and what/where you come from. Los Angeles can be a very heartbreaking place to those that are unsure of what they want in life. “Know where you come from to know where you’re going.”
