Meet Alejandro Cohen of Dublab in Silver Lake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Cohen.

Alejandro, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
DUBLAB started in 1999 as an online radio station. In 2008, dublab became a non-profit organization. Through all these years dublab has gone from a small collective to an organization with studios in Los Angeles, Japan, Spain, and Germany. We’ve been broadcasting for over 18 years one of the most adventurous music programmings in the world. Our organization is an incubator where many young artists come from. We try to make the connection between the music of the past with the music of the present and future.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like everything, after 18 years, it’s been a road with its struggles. Just like any non-profit organization, funding is always a constant challenge. That being said, here we are.

Please tell us about Dublab.
Our focus is radio, with an emphasis on Los Angeles, but looking at the entire world as well. The type of programming is all about music, with DJ sets, interviews and live performances. We broadcast live from our studio seven days a week.
