Meet Alejandro Chamorro of ACfilms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Chamorro.

Alejandro, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Granada, Nicaragua. I am the brother of two sisters Evelyn and Maria. My father and I came to the US when I was at the age of nine for a better life. My father and I had to leave my mother and two sisters behind. I was in the US without my mother for five years.

As you may imagine, this was very hard on a nine years old being without his mother at such a young age. Finally, my father and I traveled back home to get my mom and two sisters. I hadn’t seen my mother or sisters for five years. My family and I finally got reunited. For many years I worked at minimum wage jobs, struggling but I always felt in my heart that I was meant for something more. Then another tragedy hit my family. I got a call from my mom and it was like no call I had ever got before. I jumped in my car to my sisters residence to find my parents in tears. My mother looked at me in total disbelief and told me my oldest sister had passed. I didn’t know how to feel, what to say or how to comfort my mom so I left and went home in denial. Why was what I asked God. I’ve spent every day since that moment trying to figure out why.

I now, almost 20 years later, realized through my prayers that there is a purpose for my life and everything I’ve been through. In 2010 I enrolled at UDC College. While in college, I felt there was still something missing. I came to the realization that I was not living up to my fullest potential. I’ve always been driven by the Arts and self expression. While working for a print company, I saw a casting call for an undercover police officer. I knew right there the universe was speaking to me. The casting was for National Geographic and I submitted for it not knowing I would get the call. That day I realized acting was in my cards. I knew then I had found my true passion. After that, I’ve landed numerous roles on ID Channel and REELZ channel. Landed commercials for Va Hospital, Medstar and Chesapeake Insurance. Written and directed short films. I’ve also landed featured roles on films such as Jamesy Boy starring James Woods and Mary Louise Parker, 3,000 and The Last Cry. My journey is just beginning. I see no limits to what the future holds for me.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. When I first started, like anyone else I had to pay my dues working background for many years and sometimes without pay. I submitted for many many projects and heard a lot of No’s but I kept pushing forward.

ACfilms – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from others?
I am the founder and owner of ACfilms which is my film company now. I’m also an Investor in real-estate and own property.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me personally, success is truly being happy with what you do and helping others achieve their potential along the way. Having balance with yourself, family and friends in life.
