Meet Alejandra Calvente of The Posh Street in Los Feliz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Calvente.

Alejandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started in my college years while working as a fashion expert at different fashion retailers, I was always up to date on clothing trends, outfits, shoes and accessories. After graduating college, I got a job at a Media Agency where I worked on Digital Media for various brands like P&G and Microsoft, but It wasn’t until a few years ago that I decided to bring my love for fashion to life through blogging. My fashion blog “The Posh Street” – theposhstreet.com became not only my hobby but my passion. I loved spending every free minute I had working on it. I blogged about what to wear according to the city/country I was visiting and the latest trends.

As months went by, I started to follow a lot of cool and creative fashion influencers on Instagram, I enjoyed a lot to see what they had to offer. I thought that would be a great opportunity for me to showcase my passion to promote all the outfit ideas that always come to my mind, to stimulate women through fashion, inspire others to wear cool and affordable clothes and turn them into stunning outfits – sexy, casual, sporty, chill, etc. That’s how my Instagram account @theposhstreet started.

The latest addition to my journey was the launch of my own eCommerce store “The Posh Femme” – theposhfemme.com (IG @ThePoshFemme) my Feminist brand, where I sell affordable dresses, apparel, accessories, phone cases, sandals and drinkware. This project was a lot of work, research and fun times. I even had my husband’s help, who taught me how to use Photoshop to create digital banners, logos, create T-Shirt designs and resize them as well. I will continue to add more designs and trends, so stay tuned for more things to come. I built this store because I believe that every fashion item can be a source to declare identity and empowerment. I work every day to create and bring compelling products for trendsetters, fashion-forward and vocal women with a bold sense of humor and style. I believe in having a strong individual style to enable self-expression!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a smooth and exciting road! I have a great support system, I am so grateful to be surrounded by wonderful, amazing and positive people. If I ever needed help with anything my family was always there to teach, help or just hear me out. There is also a big learning curve in the digital space, starting with design, building a site and trying to establish the eCommerce store. The best part is when I work on photo shoots and write my blog, I really love it! It’s still a lot of work since I oversee outfits, locations, makeup, model, blog themes, Instagram and promotion. It was a very hard decision to leave my 9am-5pm job to follow my dreams, but I am very happy that I did it since there is nothing more rewarding than doing what I really love. My journey just started and I am very excited to discover what’s next for me.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I have two businesses: The blog and eCommerce store. I truly believe that fashion can be a source to declare identity and empowerment. My goal is to inspire women to be their best. My sites are not only about trends and tips but about feeling great. The best moments for me are when my readers, followers and clients reach out to me and tell me how much I have inspired them to be the best version of themselves.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The great part about blogging and eCommerce is that you can do it from wherever you are! You can move around all you want, all you need is a camera, internet connection and a computer. Los Angeles is a great city for the gram. We have so many great spots that are Insta-worthy, also California is an amazing state for road trips, so you can travel during the weekend to shoot different and amazing photos for blogs, Instagram and eCommerce!
