Meet Chelsea Reeves and Casey Connor of Adventure Out Loud in West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Reeves and Casey Connor.

Chelsea and Casey come from very different professional backgrounds. Chelsea has been in the mental health field for over a decade and Casey has been in the entertainment industry her whole life. Although different professional backgrounds, they have the same drive to bring joy to people and leave them feeling a little better than when they first encounter clients. They both have a HUGE passion for being active in nature and shared this is one of their top go-to’s when it comes to implementing self-care in their daily routines. Chelsea and Casey saw how powerful these coping skills can be, especially when the pandemic hit.

Being partners, Casey and Chelsea had dreamed of co-creating together… Casey has a non-profit called Live Out Loud Foundation that is dedicated to helping kids with grief and has served on numerous boards bringing different services to children of all ages, while Chelsea holds a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy specializing in adolescents and bringing an experiential component into the growth process. Chelsea has held numerous leadership roles at treatment centers across the country and wanted to implement what she has seen to be the most effective when working with young adults through the lens of adventure and getting outside.

Mid-quarantine they jokingly shared “We were starting to go a little stir-crazy. We knew we had to get back to our roots and get outside and get active… Safety and honoring those we love during this strange time is a huge priority so we were stumped how we could travel and do all safely..” That is when Casey and Chelsea had the idea to rent a camper van, that quickly led to them purchasing their own and beginning the fleet. Casey and Chelsea wanted to give clients a taste of “van life” and create a customized experience for each of them. Clients have the option of simply renting a camper van, and then they have concierge services they can add on with the adventure coaching and experiences. Casey and Chelsea’s hope is to pass on some pivotal tools they have found to be life-changing while nurturing their own mental health.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yes, and no… The road has been smooth in the sense that each moment along the way Casey and Chelsea felt like they were creating change and putting good into the world… They shared, “There for sure has been struggles, but we believe that’s when the best lessons are learned and when all evens out makes the end product the sweetest!”.

Casey either completed or assisted in every step of the van buildout. Although she is an artist with every ounce of her, construction & interior design to this extent is a new skill to her tool belt. To see new challenges arise and figure each obstacle out made for some difficult moments. Having a product that they created with love and purpose was their top priority.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Adventure Out Loud story. Tell us more about the business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Casey and Chelsea disclosed that spirituality and synchronicities play an active role in both of their lives. Casey grew up in the middle of Brooklyn, New York in the music scene, while Chelsea grew up in a rural, small town in East Texas on a pine tree and cattle farm. They grew up polar opposite and led in many ways completely different lifestyles, some might say entering in one another’s lives is “luck” or completely synchronistic.

That same “luck” has played an active role throughout their relationship all the way to current day with Adventure Out Loud they shared. In a matter of only weeks after experiencing “van life”, Chelsea and Casey bought a van and began the buildout. Chelsea shared, “When we first started we contemplated purchasing our own van and starting Adventure Out Loud, it was more of a long-term thing… Once Casey puts her mind to something, she does it 100% and in that moment. I was home visiting my family and Casey texted saying she found our van. We had only been looking for a week or so. It was the perfect mileage, great price, everything we wanted for our van right at our doorstep.”.
