Meet Adrienne Zimbro of InLine Accounting in Claremont

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Zimbro.

Adrienne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
During college, all accounting students generally take one of two career directions – tax or audit. Even as a student I felt that these two options were so very limited! I had never desired to pursue a path in the tax or audit fields. So immediately upon graduating with my degree, I chose what I believed to be option number three and began my corporate nine-to-five accountant position working for the CFO of a large business. It is here that I learned the broader concepts of managerial accounting and the more detailed ins and outs of day-to-day bookkeeping.

It did not take me long to realize that my passions were elsewhere and not in the corporate grind. I had motivations to work with small businesses and entrepreneurs in a way that wasn’t the classic, old school accounting style. I wanted to have a modern approach and work with business owners that were excited to utilize the latest technology to better understand their finances. Essentially my hope was to bring bookkeeping into the millennium.

At the end of 2016, I took the leap and left my corporate position to begin InLine Accounting – and could not be any happier. Now I work alongside businesses in a variety of industries (one of my favorite parts) and help entrepreneurs and owners manage their cash flow efficiently and with a cloud-based approach. I am so excited to see how InLine Accounting will evolve over the next few years, and of course continuing to connect with inspiring business owners!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest part so far was making the decision to leave the corporate world and take a risk by starting a new business from scratch. That being said, it has also been the most exhilarating and rewarding decision as well. I had conversations at the time with numerous people in my life who were all extremely motivating and supportive of me taking the leap into the sometimes scary world of self-employment.

Please tell us about InLine Accounting.
We work with both local and remote clients in a variety of industries and offer full-charge and ala carte bookkeeping and consulting services. Our goal is to simplify financial strategy for small business owners and tackle cash flow in a user-friendly way.

We set ourselves apart by taking advantage of cloud-based software and bringing a fresh, modern approach to likeminded entrepreneurs.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Some of my favorite memories from childhood are attending Dodgers games! You cannot beat a summer baseball game cheering on the boys in blue while eating some nachos.
